Speaker Nabih Berri received on Tuesday a cable from French President Francois Hollande, confirming to him his country’s support for Lebanon.

He said: “Maintaining stability, peace, and democracy in Lebanon will be one of my top priorities.”

“France will continue on stressing the importance of the deep friendship between the two countries and their people,” he remarked.

“France has long defended Lebanon’s independence and sovereignty and it will continue to do so,” added Hollande in response to a cable the speaker had sent him congratulating him on his recent election as French president.

“It will always stand by Lebanon to help it confront all challenges in a region that is witnessing deep changes,” he noted.

Berri later received a cable from Saudi King Abdullah.

Hollande. U are talking to a man that would be put in jail in your country for 1% of what he has done.
