March 8 and 14 Forces Fight Over Engineers Syndicate

Free Patriotic Movement’s Elie Bsaibes, the March 8 candidate for the chairmanship of the Beirut syndicate, garnered 6,699 votes while Lebanese Forces candidate Imad Wakim, who was backed by the March 14 forces, received 6,412 votes.
The March 8 list comprised Paul al-Hajj (6,694 votes), Rudolph Karam (6,570 votes), Mohammed Basbous (6,497 votes) and Mustafa Fawwaz (6,565 votes).
Ayman Zeineddine, the candidate nominated by the Progressive Socialist Party and backed by both March 8 and March 14, garnered 12,479 votes.
Around 12,000 engineers participated in the vote in Beirut, in a heated battle between the March 8 and the March 14 political camps.
In the North, the list backed by the March 14 camp and headed by Bashir Zouq garnered all the seats.
