International Film Festival Opens in Transylvania

The Transylvania International Film festival (TIFF), plans to screen 220 movies including 3D productions by German Wim Wenders and Werner Herzog and a whole section for horror movie buffs, organizers said.

The city of Cluj in the heart of Transylvania will present out of competition sections, including "No limit", dedicated to films that present "true challenges for audience and actors alike" and "Shadows", for horror and fantasy movies, they said.

The 10th edition of the festival which opened Friday will also screen "Diversity day", presenting films about the Roma minority and the Jewish and Roma deportations in the World War II.

For the first time, TIFF also opens its door to the 3D, with the films "Pina", by Wenders, a tribute to choreographer Pina Bausch and the "Cave of Forgotten Dreams" by Herzog.

TIFF also honors British actors Jacqueline Bisset for her contribution to the world cinematography and Michael York for his entire career.

Workshops and open-air screenings are also on the festival's agenda, organizers expecting over 60,000 spectators, many from abroad.
