The Presidency on Friday said a media report has “misinterpreted” President Michel Aoun’s latest remarks on the economic situation.

Prime Minister Saad Hariri has received a phone call from President Michel Aoun, who asked him to “hold a cabinet session as soon as possible,” news portal Mustaqbal Web, which is affiliated with Hariri’s al-Mustaqbal Movement, said on Friday.

Hariri adviser ex-MP Ammar Houry meanwhile told al-Markazia news agency that “PM Hariri knows his constitutional jurisdiction very well.”

“With utmost patriotism, sacrifices and sometimes limited resources, the Lebanese army has played a tremendous role in keeping Lebanon and its people safe from the threat of terrorism, landmines, instability or other external or internal threats, including at the borders,” Mr. Kubis said.

President Michel Aoun addressed the military on Thursday in a speech marking Army Day saying that efforts won’t be spared to preserve their rights but also stressing the need for “sacrifices” during difficult circumstances.
