التقى نائب وزير الخزانة الأميركية الجمعة رئيس الحكومة تمام سلام خلال زيارة له الى لبنان.
وذكرت صحيفة "السفير" أن "غلايزر الذي يزور لبنان أكد ان بلاده حريصة جدا على استقرار لبنان السياسي والأمني والاقتصادي والمصرفي، وأنها تدعم مؤسساته العسكرية والأمنية في حربها ضد الإرهاب، كما تدعم مؤسساته الدستورية وتدعو إلى انتخاب رئيس للجمهورية بأسرع وقت ممكن".
وبحسب الصحيفة فان غلايزر لفت الى أن "لا تطبيق عشوائيا أو استنسابيا للقانون الأميركي، ولا استهداف لطائفة أو مجموعة أو شريحة لبنانية".
وقال بحسب "السفير" "نحن أعلنا أن الهدف من القانون هو محاربة حزب الله، ونحن لا نزور لبنان للتفاوض بشأن القانون ولا نستقبل الوفود اللبنانية للأخذ والرد بالقانون، بل بسبل تطبيقه".
ونفى غلايزر أن يكون الهدف من القانون هو استهداف كل من يتعامل مع حزب الله، بل حصره بالحزب ككيان وأفراد وقيادات، مضيفا "إننا مهتمون في الوقت نفسه بالتدقيق في حجم العمليات المالية وقيمتها ووجهتها".
وإذ شدد على أن بلاده تحترم القوانين المالية اللبنانية، لفت الى أنه "المطلوب من الحكومة اللبنانية أن تحترم قوانين الولايات المتحدة طالما هي تريد التعامل أو الدخول إلى النظام المصرفي والمالي الأميركي".
يشار الى ان الكونغرس الاميركي أقر في 17 كانون الاول قانونا يفرض عقوبات على المصارف التي تتعامل مع حزب الله.
وأصدر حاكم مصرف لبنان رياض سلامة تعميما في 3 ايار يدعو المصارف والمؤسسات المالية و"سائر المؤسسات الخاضعة لرقابة مصرف لبنان" الى ان "تقوم على كامل مسؤوليتها بتنفيذ عملياتها بما يتناسب مع مضمون القانون الاميركي".

Go to Lebanon if you've ever been there, and look at these areas now that you mention, I see the Lebanese Army Forces on every street corner and on the checkpoints from Dahiyeh to the South and in Beqaa, Baalbek.
