A pharmacist, who was kidnapped in the eastern Zahle district around two weeks ago, has been released, the state-run National News Agency said Tuesday.

NNA said Wissam al-Khatib was set free in his hometown of Kfarzabad in the central Bekaa valley around 4:00 am.

His family refused to discuss about the circumstances of his release.

Al-Khatib was abducted on Sept. 29 as he was opening his pharmacy that lies on the main road of the town of Karak.

Witnesses said at the time that the armed assailants were riding a blue vehicle.

LBCI television had said the kidnappers demanded a $500,000 ransom.

The kidnapping has led to protests by the town's residents, who on several occasions blocked the main road with their cars to demand al-Khatib's release.

His family is refusing to make any comments about his release............
Which very probably means they have paid the ransom and were threatened somehow if they make any public comments regarding the kidnappers.
Lawless country.
