SSNP Slams Saudi Report: It is Aimed at Covering up Real Criminals

The Syrian Social National Party condemned on Wednesday a Saudi report claiming that the party was behind the assassination of former Industry Minister Pierre Gemayel and attempted assassination of journalist May Chidiac.

It said in a statement: “The report is baseless. It should have investigated the facts by the concerned Lebanese judicial sides.”

“This story is part of a suspicious campaign aimed at defaming members of the SSNP and tarnishing its image before the public,” it added.

“The party is being victimized because of its history of struggle against Lebanon and the ummah’s enemies,” declared the statement.

“Al-Bilad’s report is worthless and its timing coincides with the escalatory campaign against the Resistance forces,” it stressed.

The party condemned Gemayel’s assassination and Chidiac’s attack, emphasizing the need to uncover the criminals and achieve justice.

Furthermore, the SSNP noted that accusing it of the crimes is an attempt to cover up the actions of the real perpetrators.

The party added that it reserves the right to pursue legal action against the newspaper.

On Tuesday, the Saudi al-Bilad newspaper quoted an official close to the Special Tribunal for Lebanon as saying that the vehicle used in the killing of Gemayel was found at one of the SSNP’s offices in the area of Koura in northern Lebanon.

The vehicle was allegedly owned by a Lebanese man who works at the U.N. in New York and was stolen shortly before the assassination in the Jdeideh suburb north of Beirut on November 21, 2006.

A lone assailant shot the minister in the head at point-blank range from a silencer-equipped gun after stepping out of the car.

The assassins had made changes to the vehicle to resemble the car of a former Lebanese Forces official who lives in the town of Roumieh not far from the crime scene.

The official also told al-Bilad that the STL will issue new arrest warrants that would end the ambiguity over the killing of Gemayel and the assassination attempt against former LBC anchorwoman May Chidiac on Sept. 25, 2005.

The warrants “accuse the SSNP of involvement in both crimes,” the official said.

“The party is being victimized because of its history of struggle against Lebanon and the ummah’s enemies,” declared the statement.

What struggle, except in the streets of Beirut killing innocent civilians. You are a bunch of outlaws, thugs, and criminals.

Ssnp should be banned. They don't believe in the republic of Lebanon. They want Lebanon to be a state of greater Syria. Just like the hez bit tahir and jamaa islamia. These parties were legalised by the hariri and sinoura governments. Any party that wants a caliphate or greater Syria are enemies to the republic and are the definition of treason. I believe in freedom of speech and democracy, but when the goal of a party is the end of the country then this is wrong.

The report said that the car that drove the killers was later identified as the one parked in front of the offices of the SSNP (in Koura, I believe it said). Yeah, right, as if the killers were saying: Hey, we did it, here is our car, come and get us!!! So believable, like all of the other fabrications by the real killers or their stooges. Sorry, losers. The party and the Party are both over. rou7o l3abo barra. I am sure Amin Gemayel is going to believe this story.

Lebanon, the only country filled with traitor individuals and parties making use of the democracy of the Lebanese to promote the annihilation of the system that makes them exist.
from Syrian snoopies passing by Syrian ba3sists to al faqih and hizbuta7rir, these weirdos should be sent to the wonderful cuckoo lands they defend: let's see how lovely syrian iranian and islamist democracy is.
Band of hypocrits, you will get what you deserve.

Kill bill... Very funny... Quentim tarintino. But hezballah and Ba'ath do not aim for the destruction of the republic. They have idealogical ideas of what the republic should be and I might not agree with them, but that is their constitutional right in a democracy, as long as they believe in the republic of Lebanon.

there's no resistance forces, they are nothing but murderous militias with declared agendas, agendas to destroy Lebanon with the help of brainwashed "le phénicien" and "newbie mujahideen".
Wake up before it's too late everything is changing, a free peaceful respectful Lebanon is the only garanty

The SSNP has a deep history of assassinations and terrrorist attacks against the Lebanese people and leaders so there isn't much tarnishing left to do, if the government next door disappears and there wasn't the protection of HA, parties like the SSNP and Baath in Lebanon would cease to exist very quickly...

i find it funny that a block claiming the independence and sovereignty of lebanon far from foreign influences accept to be allied with a party that wants lebanon to disappear and be part of syria!!!

isn t it ironic?

I agree that this party should be banned.
The notion of Great Syria is obsolete (Dixit Jumblatt).
History is on the move. Why France does not claim all territories captured by Napoleon???
Imagine they also want Cyprus in their system: why not answered Antoun Saadé and I nearly hear "Syaha al dikati fiha". Ya salam, what a logic based on chicken.

What do you do with ARABISM ?

Why don't you push to have a party in Jordan, Syria, Palestine, and your beloved Cyprus.

This party has a Kateb-Gemayel complex. This sort of psychatrist disease is frequent in Lebanon. Raymond Eddé had the same complex. On the other hand Fouad Boutros had a Raymond Eddé's complex.
Therefore I am not surprised that they could have done the killing of Pierre Gemayel (junior). They DID kill Bashir and are so proud of their action.

Viva Fouad Chehab who knew that people like the SSNP should be eliminated from Lebanon as a first step, and then erased from the face of earth.

Thumb james 14 July 2011, 10:44

It is through the SSNP that the Syrian regime and the Syrian Intelligence is able to keep a hold on Lebanon, it is through these filthy scumbag traitors that Lebanon has lost the likes of Bachir Gemayel and Pierre Gemayel. They believe in a 'Greater Syria', which completely defies the basis upon which Lebanon was created. Lebanon is the best country in the entire middle east because we have such a great diversity in religion, and our Muslim/Christian balance gives great freedom to all the Lebanese people. It was the SSNP that killed the true patriot Bachir Gemayel, who was on the path to successfully uniting the Lebanese (Christians, Shia, Sunni and Druze) and he was against ALL foreign influence in Lebanon - including America and Israel. If the Syrians saw us unite, they knew that they no longer could have such a hold on our beautiful 10,452 sq km so they assasinated him, and I have no doubt that all political assasinations in Lebanon are somehow related to Syria.
