Student Dies at AUB after Falling Off Engineering Faculty Building
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةA student died at the American University of Beirut after he fell off one of the campus' buildings, reported the National News Agency on Wednesday.
It said that Marwan Mustapha Hamzeh, 20, died after he fell off the fifth floor of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture building.
Security forces soon arrived at the scene to investigate the incident.
AUB later issued a statement confirming the death of the third-year engineering student
“Out of respect for the family's privacy and grief, AUB will not be issuing further media statements on the tragedy,” it said.
AUB Dean of Student Affairs Talal Nizameddin added: “Out of respect for his grieving parents and close family I strongly count on your support to discourage idle speculation and gossip on a very sad personal tragedy.”
One of the victim's relatives had told al-Jadeed television earlier on Wednesday that Hamzeh had committed suicide.
I am sorry but you've got the name of the student wrong. Also, he did not fall off the faculty building but off AUB dorms' building. You should not write committed suicide until it has been verified from security cameras. Please correct the info. Thanks.
Engineering and architecture faculties have different buildings, and as i recall, they do not have a 5th floor.
May he rest in peace.
FT I doubt there is a cabal of conspirators targeting M8 posts for removal while laughing an evil sinister laugh and playing a pipe organ. We all "lost" posts to obscure reasons. The removal of posts appears to be random. I tend to support your "mysterious ways" theory.
in the mean time FT's second post, in which he was wondering why he got censored, got censored as well...
naharnet i dont know what your procedure is to delete comments, but it definitely needs to be reviewed because it's completely random and doesnt seem to be working.
funny thing they have confirmed it is not a suicidal incident while Naharnet is still on its report with no change.
He fell off men's dorms. Naharnet could do what they do best and steal other reports that are more factual. This is a shame, more to the family and Marwan than to this folly joke of a site.
