Washington 'Strongly Condemns' Rocket Attacks on Bekaa
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةThe United States has condemned rocket attacks from Syria on Lebanon's eastern Bekaa Valley and called for the respect of Lebanon's dissociation policy.
The U.S. “strongly condemns” the attacks, State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said Thursday.
“The government of Lebanon has also said that they will be conducting an investigation, so we will look to that,” she said.
“We of course call on all parties in the region to respect, as we always do, Lebanon’s sovereignty and its stated policy of disassociation,” Psaki added.
Lebanese security officials said at least seven rockets fired from Syria on Thursday fell in the eastern village of Nabi Sheet, a Hizbullah stronghold, but caused no casualties.
Such attacks have been common since Hizbullah joined the forces of Syrian President Bashar Assad in fighting the rebels seeking to topple him.
Syrian army helicopters also fired several rockets on an area along the border near the northeastern town of Arsal, said the officials.
Arsal has been used as a conduit for weapons and rebels to enter Syria, while also serving as a refuge for people fleeing the conflict.
Washington denounces the very results its arming and training of the terrorists cause.
There would be no shelling if it were not for the USA\KSA war in Syria. And Lebanon would be in a much better position.
HA would gladly come back from Syria should the USA\KSA stop funding and pull their terrorists from Syria.
So the consequences of the illegal American terror war are not to be considered when America condemns the fruits of its own behavior?
@ slash
Mate do you want a solution so that there is no more Syrian shelling of Lebanon? Then tell the KSA and the USA to stop their illegal war and pull their terrorists from Syria ...
@ slash
I guess you call the billions of dollars that have been spent by the KSA\USA sending, training and arming the terrorists in Syria "helping a bit". Grow up ...
@ slash 3
"and why illegal ?"
Because it is against international law to send terrorists into another country to overthrow it ... Try to keep up ...
@mckinl
America will stand by its interests. And we are seeing it now that don't need gulf oil much, they will change when their interests change (or perceived interests).
The arab countries on the other hand, are not driven by interests, they are only driven by sectarian hatred and love of power, and they are responsible for the mess. Yes, it is often in the interest of the west to see the arab world divided, so one could believe conspiracy theories suggesting the west tried to split arabs etc.
But the problem at its root is the ignorance, extremism and thuggery of some power thirsty old Arabian tribal mentality, that Islam came to eradicate.
amazing how M8ers accept that a foreign army enters our airspace with helicopters and bombs the country... and they talk about "sovereignty"? they cry when israel flies over the country but strangely NOT A WORD when syria BOMBS lebanon with its air force....
double standard hypocrits , that's all... they are wishing for syria to come back and annex lebanon like in the good old days, traitors they are....
I am sure the FSA does not have helicopters so I guess it is all part of Assad's gang.
And do you think that they would have fired at the syrian regime helicos with this m8 government ?
