Caretaker Interior Minister Marwan Charbel noted on Wednesday that security agencies in Lebanon are enjoying a greater role and their duties are expanding in light of the developments that are taking place in the country.

He said: “The new challenges on the Lebanese scene requires strengthening the agencies' abilities through equipping it with advanced technologies that will be sufficient in confronting dangers.”

These agencies include members whose high qualifications have helped them achieve security accomplishments and uncover very complex crimes, he added from France where he was attending the 2014 Milipol Paris Security Exhibition at the invitation of French Interior Minister Manuel Valls.

The security agencies should be provided with equipment that will enable them to confront all forms of crimes that are adopting nontraditional methods, remarked Charbel.

The Milipol Paris Security Exhibition includes 887 institutions from the public and private sectors from 47 countries.

The latest technologies in maintaining security and civil peace were on display.

The Exhibition was attended by officials from 150 countries, 110 missions from 59 countries, and 27,243 visitors from around the world.

I knew FPM/Bachar/Hezbollah were all working together with Israel, now we have a picture to prove it!

New challenges? What new challenges? The challenges have not changed. Terrorist acts in Lebanon are nothing new. The first thing to do is for all these idiots to sit down and agree to do what is necessary to save the country. Agree is the word. Unfortunately none of them agree because they are so ideologically different. Only in Lebanon is ideology linked to religion. Amazing.

Parition please.
