FPM Says Hizbullah has No Official Stance over Aoun's Candidacy to Presidency
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةChange and Reform bloc MP Alain Aoun denied on Monday that Hizbullah officially named Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun to run for presidential post.
He said in comments to Voice of Lebanon radio (100.5) that “the party has no official stance over the nomination of FPM leader for the presidency.”
Earlier on Monday, al-Akhbar newspaper quoted a prominent source in Hizbullah that the “party and its ally AMAL movement are convinced that there is no other candidate but Aoun.”
The source pointed out that “vacuum at the presidency post is a serious option,” describing those who believe that the matter is a maneuver as “delusional.”
“Vacuum at the presidency post is a better option than extending the term of Suleiman or electing a weak Christian,” the source added.
For his part, FPM caretaker Culture Minister Gaby Layyoun told Voice of Lebanon radio (93.3) that the party rejects any attempts to extend the term of Suleiman.
“Vacuum (at the post) is a better option,” the minister said.
Suleiman's six-year term ends in May 2014 but there are fears that differences between the rival March 8 and 14 alliances would lead to a further clash among the MPs and prevent them from heading to parliament to elect a new president.
The constitutional period to elect a new head of state begins on March 25, two months prior to the expiration of Suleiman’s mandate.
Last week, Aoun said in an interview with MTV channel that he's “not a candidate for the presidency unless the MPs want that.”
aoun is the petain of Lebanon for allying with the Iranian extremists terrorist invading forces.
then you are blind :)
you do not see those who are threatening to burn the country if the cabinet is not to their liking, as well what is in respect of the presidency.
definitely you cannot see that being as blind as bat stupid traitor following those terrorists.
FT, who said they were nusra?
The media confirms they were 2 lebanese, 1 palestinian and the fourth i don't know the nationality of but so far i haven't read anything to confirm he was from outside lebanon. Anyway nationality doesn't matter as these fools arent doing what theyvare doing because of their nationality, it's an extreme ideology. It is a threat to lebanon but so is iran and im sure you know how. If lebanese don't stop the mentality of taking one evil an ally against someone they percieve as a greater evil then the evil will surround us all. Ask any armenian about the situation of christians in iran and you will know how iran is a threat.
I don't really see HA as terrorists, nor the Iranians. I believe they are trying to control our region, and have used force and assassinations as a tool. However, I don't think it is in the same manner/reasons as the qaeda/salafi/nusra/takfiri. The qaeda/salafi/takfiri... hate the Shia/Christian religions. I don't believe the Shia hate our religion. I don't think they want to kill us because of our religion. I believe the Shia have done things to gain power and protect their arms which I do not support, nor do I feel their weapons are divine. But, I don't believe the Shia are attacking our LAF in the same manner as the "other" extremists. Yes, they should pay taxes and for electricity...
Power hungry cloun all the problems that are happening in lebanon is because this babboon wants to be president
I hope for once that common sense will prevail and that no temptation of n any kind will come to prevail. The nation's highest post should NOT and cannot go to people of past, especially when their record is far from desirable, thus people like Aoun and Geagea must bot be considered for this most of sensitive of posts. To think of appointing anyone of these two men is tantamount to opening wounds of old, at this stage this is the very last thing Lebanon needs. Let us for once garner our courage and vision, and encourage people that are a lot younger, people who have what belongs to the new generation, people with good education and patriotism, and with vision, to come and fill this post. The people of Lebanon are truly tired with that same old generation that has exhausted every single avenue of its capacity, the time is now for the new generation, if we stand beside it and assist it instead of tripping it, we could henceforth open the way for a new beginning.
Correct Roar, to be honest, so far no official communique has come yet from the FPM in this regard, regardless, as you said, the new generation must be given its right to enter the stage, and as you said, new faces will be best. Now that we've tried everything of old, I am in no doubt that new ideas coming from new people will come right on time. I personally know of many fine young men and women who are very very capable to be named as president, and the best part is this, they are neither this M nor that M, they are just good folks who have it in them to do their bit, so I say, let them be given the chance, for them and us all.
hizbushaitan is keeping its Christiaan allies hanging by a thread so they conform to their will, and when the time comes they will decide which one of these traitors they will support.
