Four Firefighters Wounded in Battling Fire that Destroyed Historical Palace in Nabatiyeh

Four firefighters were injured on Saturday as they battled to extinguish a devastating fire that erupted at a a heritage site in the southern town of Zefta in Nabatiyeh.

The state-run National News Agency reported that some four hours after the blaze broke out in al-Darawish Palace, firefighters had succeeded in stemming the raging flames.

The injured firefighters were submitted to Nabih Berri University Hospital in Nabatiyeh for treatment.

The owner of the Palace Hussein Beik al-Darwish said that all the historic and rare contents of the palace were destroyed, pointing out that they are irreplaceable.

“After preserving the Palace for 100 years it was destroyed,” he pointed out.

The owner said that the Palace was built in the 1900s with an area estimated to be 1,200 meters and 15 chambers.

He added that the Palace contains historical heritage that goes back to before the Ottoman era.

Security agencies arrived swiftly at the scene and opened an investigation into the incident as the reasons behind the fire is still unknown.

Even our Hospitals are owned and named after our Mafia heads......
Jumblat Hospital, Berri Hospital, Harriri Hospital, HA Hospital, ...... I miss the old days when our hospitals were secular and non-political.
