Interior Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq held talks on Thursday with Free Patriotic Movement chief MP Michel Aoun.

Mashnouq, who is loyal to al-Mustaqbal movement, refused to disclose to reporters at Rabieh the context of his talks with Aoun after a 45-minute meeting.

Mashnouq only said that he cannot make any statement in the presence of Aoun.

LBCI reported that the meeting tackled the latest developments.

Earlier on Thursday, al-Joumhouria newspaper reported that discussions between the political arch-foes over the ministerial policy statement witnessed progress at night.

The committee tasked with drafting the policy statement will hold its ninth meeting on Friday but it has so far failed to narrow differences on the resistance clause after the March 14 alliance stressed that the resistance should be placed under the authority of the Lebanese state.

The Hizbullah-led March 8 camp, on the other hand, rejected this demand, wanting to legitimize the party's armed resistance against Israel.

Al-Joumhouria described the meeting as “the first of its kind.”

The report pointed out that Mashnouq is seeking to address several matters during his meeting with Aoun.

The meeting comes after Aoun recently confirmed that he has recently met with former premier and head of al-Mustaqbal movement Saad Hariri ahead of the formation of Prime Minister Tammam Salam's cabinet in February.

According to unconfirmed reports, ex-PM Hariri and Bassil had also held a meeting in Dubai.

Aoun did a lot of mistakes. Biggest one was attacking the LF and hence weakening the christians forever and forgoing our chance to live in a country without bearded cartoon characters. Like if today Berri bombards HA.....

I will never forgive him for this mistake.

However, ever since Taef, christians have never ever been respected as today. they were second class citizens during the whole hariri period.

Today thanks to Aoun, Hariri is and take into account christians, not as employees like Mustakbal MPs, but as a force he should reckon with.
This is something I am respectful to Aound for achieving.

The rapprochement between FPM and Mustaqbal is good news for Lebanon as both sides recognize their legitimacy in the political and social lebanese fabrics. If the relationship between FPM and Mustaqbal changes from a conflictual relationship to a constructive one than politics in Lebanon could improve and most importantly weaken the positions of Hizbullah that is blatantly conducting an iranian agenda in Lebanon.

Roar, you get my point exactly, yes the vast majority of the political class of Lebanon do exist right below the dog's tail. And what they spout is similar to what is spouted out from that orifice.

It is a running commentary on the very sad state of the Lebanese political class.

No, that makes it a democracy.

Surely you mean "revalations" FT ;)

At least spell it like them, if they're discussing the occult.
