General Security: Five Detained Syrians Confessed to Belonging to Terrorist Network

The General Security announced on Wednesday that Syrian detainees it had arrested on Monday confessed to belonging to a terrorist network, reported the National News Agency.
It said that the five Syrians, who had entered Lebanon illegally, confessed to transporting a booby-trapped vehicle from Syria to Lebanon.
The suspects transported a pickup truck, on behalf of the Nusra Front, from Syria's town of Yabrud to the outskirts of the Lebanese region of Arsal.
The suspects have since been referred to State Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Saqr Saqr for further investigations.
The General Security added that it will not “hesitate in pursuing terrorist organizations,” saying that it will continue its efforts in coordination with the other security forces.

@terrorist, even though one cannot deny that torture exists in our LAF, but also, it would be unfair to state that so sparingly. The LAF are indeed infiltrated by all of Lebanon's political sides, so yes, we do often get the push and pull of such dynamics, however in general the LAF have worked hard to eliminate torture as best as they could, and for good reasons too. These days it does no good to obtain confessions using torture, other methods are a lot better, since they would produce real confessions and help save lives. Fake confessions do so little in comparison.

Every single security agency in Lebanon and in the Arab world uses torture to get confessions. There are numerous HRW reports to that effect. If you ever get arrested for anything in Lebanon before they ask you the first question, you get slapped just to welcome you.

According to mowaten, only the ISF tortures detainees and gets confessions under duress like in Ali Eid's case and his accomplices.
