Woman, Child Killed for Failing to Stop Vehicle at Arsal Checkpoint

A woman and a child were killed at an army checkpoint in the northeastern border town of Arsal late on Saturday, after the vehicle they were in did not comply to the troops' orders and stop.

"A pickup truck's driver did not abide by orders and stop at a checkpoint, and thus, the troops fired gunshots at it,” the state-run National News Agency said.

"The incident resulted in the death of a woman and a child, and it also wounded a man in the leg,” the NNA reported.

"The victims' bodies, as well as the injured man, were transferred to al-Rahma hospital in Arsal,” the same source added.

This incident comes few hours after several troops were martyred and wounded in a suicide bombing that targeted an army checkpoint in the Wadi Ata region in Arsal.
