A number of Syrians and Palestinians were arrested on Saturday as they attempted to travel from Lebanon using false legal papers, reported the National News Agency.

It said that 49 Syrians and Palestinians, who sought refuge from Syria, were arrested by security forces at the Rafik Hariri International Airport.

They were seeking to travel to an Arab country.

They have since been referred to the concerned authorities for investigation.

The Internal Security Forces General Directorate warned Arabs and foreigners, especially Syrian and Palestinian refugees, against violating residency laws and attempting to travel through illegal papers and means.

It stressed that it will carry out investigations with the detainees to uncover the members of the counterfeit gang.

If I were the Lebanese authorities, I'd let them go. 49 foreigners less on Lebanese soil.

why they arrest them? i thought we wanted to get rid of them as we cannot handle their numbers! plus where are the holding cells to keep placing all these people? i thought there was a shortage of prison space
