Hizbullah Agrees to Meet al-Rahi, Says Contacts Ongoing

Hizbullah doesn't oppose any meeting with Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi as the party stressed that contacts with Bkirki are ongoing.

“We don't mind to hold a meeting (with al-Rahi) at any time,” Hizbullah circles said in comments published in al-Joumhouria newspaper.

However, the sources pointed out that the security circumstances are impeding such a meeting.

Al-Rahi said on Wednesday ahead of a short visit to Iraq that he wouldn't mind to meet Hizbullah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.

“The important matter is to meet and talk with one language as Lebanon and its nationals are at stake.”

“Contacts between Bkirki and the party hasn't been cut even during the Patriarch's visit to the occupied Palestine territories,” the sources said.

The sources said that the party only had a stance regarding the Patriarch's visit but kept the “line open” with Bkirki.

Al-Rahi traveled to Jerusalem in May to welcome Pope Francis during his brief visit to the Holy Land.

He was the first patriarch to travel to Israel since the Jewish state was created in 1948.

Comment on the topic: I would like to believe that the intention of all political parties is the best for Lebanon; my question: don't they realise that all attempts are just window dressing ? Don't they realise that In most industrialised countries people may disagree on political issues but they are always united concerning their nation and flag; In Lebanon people are and were never united ,obviously they are in permanent disagreement. The reality is that in the past decades due to several factors the population of Lebanon became polarized in 2 profoundly different cultures, subsequently all ideas or initiatives from the one part is automatically stigmatized and rejected by the other. How long can we keep on playing this tragedy ?

Thugs with a flag having God's name with a kalachnikov... can someone explain to me the paradox...

One thing i thought of is that as KSA sunnis have swords on their flag with God's name - our Chia friends wanted to show they are more modern by using to date weaponry.....

it's a resistance movement habboub, that is why there is a weapon as one of the symbols on their flag.

flamethrower, have you decided to take the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge?

beiruti, as usual, you are on target...however my two cents, religious figures should focus on religion and teach us about worshiping God. Nothing less, nothing more. Just sayin...

Bandoul, you are so correct. When the Christian cleric dips into things political it only validates when the Nasrallah's and Khomeine's of the world do the same.

Their mission is to safely navigate us all to safe harbor in the next life. Not to manage political temporal affairs in this one.

flamethrower as I said, they cannot fight with dignity it's is a foreign concept to them. They cannot even fight they hide while others do. They were trained to let others fight for them while they run away to the french embassy and from there they claim heroics.
