Qahwaji: Atmosphere in Lebanon Will Determine Nature of Next President
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةArmy Commander General Jean Qahwaji stressed that the atmosphere pervading Lebanon will determine the identity of the country's new president, reported the daily An Nahar on Saturday.
He explained to his visitors that “should a military atmosphere pervade the country, then a military president will be elected.”
“Should an economic atmosphere come into play, then the new president would be economy-oriented,” he clarified.
Moreover, he predicted that the current instability in the region “will not be resolved any time soon and may extend some ten years.”
“The end is still not clear, but it is certain that we are in the middle of a military confrontation and a political one that the arm did not choose,” Qahwaji continued.
On the presidential elections, he told his visitors that he “would be the first to congratulate Free Patriot Movement leader MP Michel Aoun should he be elected president.”
Lebanon has been without a president since May when the term of Michel Suleiman ended without the election of a successor.
Ongoing disputes between the March 8 and 14 camps over a compromise candidate have so far thwarted the polls.
Aoun and Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea are among the main candidates although the MP has not officially announced his candidacy.
Geagea has accused Aoun of obstructing the polls through having his parliamentary Change and Reform bloc boycott the electoral sessions, saying he is attempting to blackmail political factions into electing him.

By the way, I am not a supporter of the Hakeem. You can insult him as much as you like. I am objectively stating that the Caporal is an agent, a liar, a corrupt who is sold to the outside. These are facts. Not a judgement.
Your only arguments is by insulting others with dirty words. This shows your level of education.
I was watching an interview of Abdel Halim Khaddam where he confesses the support of Syria given to Michel Aoun during the inter-Christian war with the LF. There's even a part where Aoun the claoun said he was ready to be a part of the Syrian Army if he won Geagea. Now this same claoun is aspiring to be elected president? This sick old man will die and never even smell the roses of Baabda. The next president can be a general Kahwaji will be great, but Aoun is not even fit to be a bottler, the hell with this old man.
