Aoun Meets Berri, Speaks of 'Some Progress' in Presidential Issue
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةFree Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun spoke Monday of “some progress” regarding the presidential crisis, without revealing details.
“The presidential vote has crossed some stages and God willing it will continue in this manner,” said Aoun after meeting Speaker Nabih Berri in Ain al-Tineh.
“There is a bit of progress in the presidential issue, regardless of who made it and when,” he added.
Asked about the FPM's ongoing dialogue with the Lebanese Forces, Aoun said: “We won't divulge the details so that we don't ruin it.”
Separately, the FPM leader said he discussed with Berri some parliamentary draft laws and the work of the government.
Lebanon has been without a head of state since May when the term of president Michel Suleiman ended without the election of a successor.
Ongoing disputes between the rival March 8 and 14 camps and electoral rivalry between Aoun and LF leader Samir Geagea have torpedoed the elections.

No wonder his posts are removed within minutes of them being posted.
General Aoun should focus on helping the Shiite majority get their just democratic rights usurped by the Christian minority in Taef.
The general of generals is the most loved leader by the LAF.
They understood his sacrifice for them when he knew he had been betrayed by geagea & the LF & the US who gave the Syrians the green light to use its air force, that he had been betrayed externally as well as internally
he could keep fighting & have his men killed or surrender & save his men.
He did the most honorable thing to save them.
But geagea & the LF made sure the LAF boys were shot dead regardless.
Nice of you to revise history how you choose it Gabby.
even rommel knew when to surrender to save his mens life.
This really came down to who wanted to be in control. I blame both of them. They should have got together. If they did we would look different today. They should have never fought each other directly.

Roar please. Just remember in 1990 what Aoun said to his supporters who made a human shield around Baabda Palace:
''I am ready to die on the battlefield of honor rather than surrender. Be sure I shall die fighting,'' General Aoun told the cheering crowds around the hilltop palace east of Beirut in Baabda, Lebanon's Christian heartland.
Then he left his family and soldiers to get raped and executed defending the palace he abandoned...
