Report: Hizbullah Readying to Attack Islamist Fighters along Lebanon's Border

إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربية W460

Hizbullah is reportedly mobilizing and preparing to carry out a wide-range attack on more than one axis in the rebel-held areas in the Syrian Qalamoun region and on Lebanon's Eastern Mountain range.

A source close to Hizbullah revealed in comments to the Italian news agency Adnkronos (AKI) that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and Syrian regime forces will back the party's assault on militant posts.

The source said Hizbullah had waged a stake that the harshness of the winter in Qalamoun, strategically located on the Lebanese border, would limit the movement of the Islamist fighters and reduce their areas of control.

However, the failure of the party's expectation compelled Hizbullah to stage the wide-area operation to force the rebels to retreat.

“The party's strategy during winter failed to block the key rebel supply line,” the source told the news agency, fearing that the rebels have stepped up their readiness for a battle in the spring.

When the Syrian revolt erupted in March 2011, the Lebanese eastern border town of Arsal served as a key conduit for refugees, rebels and wounded people fleeing strife-torn Syria, but the Lebanese army stepped up it's security measures in the village to stop infiltrations.

It was overran in August by gunmen belonging to the two al-Nusra Front and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), who withdrew from the town by taking several soldiers and policemen hostage. Four have been so far executed.

Though ISIL and al-Nusra Front both have roots in al-Qaida, IS has formally broken with the group, while Nusra is its official branch in Syria.

Despite ideological similarities, the two groups are opposed and in conflict with each other in other parts of Syria, particularly in the north.

But in Qalamoun, their fighters battled the regime and Hizbullah forces alongside each other, with support from some smaller Islamist rebel groups.

Nothing but body bags.... these terrorist sectarians will only come back in yellow body bags.

Thumb _mowaten_ 13 March 2015, 10:48

Who you support is clear to all by now, but just wondering... are you still in denial about it?

Missing greatpierro 13 March 2015, 10:56

if would be better that the laf does the job ; if needed with the support of hizbollah as a last resort. but having hizbollah fighting on foreign grounds can only bring danger to lebanon as this gives a good reason for the islamists militias to attack our soil.

Thumb Mystic 13 March 2015, 11:39

peirro, tell that to the unarmed Yazidis, Assyrians etc. They were killed even though they didn'nt put up a fight.

Thumb EagleDawn 13 March 2015, 11:45

sadly, the worst enemy is the one within. You can try to reason with them, but those Iranian slaves have no will of their own. They turn down any chance of unity because they can only see short-term, untill the next Iranian paycheck. They'd sell the country's past and future for a few Iranian Rials, actually they already have.

Mystic tell that to the unarmed men, women and children who were massacred and tortured to death by your fascist friends in Damascus for simply daring to protest.

Thumb Mystic 13 March 2015, 10:48

Will be satisfying to see your takfiri brothers in a pile of bodies vulture.

Thumb Mystic 13 March 2015, 11:41

What law are you referring to peace? Where does it say that the Resistance is the enemy? Just in th3 M14 journals that is, nobody here cares what you think. You are the enemies of Lebanon in my view.

I have a dream that IS and HA showdown go on full force for a long time and at the end the LAF finish off the surviving entity. Lebanon above all.

Is Shebaa Farms still Lebanese these days and is there a plan and a timetable to liberate it; just wondering.

Missing peace 13 March 2015, 11:27

Touche @peace.

Thumb _mowaten_ 13 March 2015, 13:02

Ex-human: Yes Shebaa is still Lebanese, no matter how much you zionists fantasize about it.
And time will tell what the plan was, just like you goons laughed in the pre-2000's about HA liberating the south

Peasse: yes priorities can change, unless you're a one-neuroned bot programmed to only a narrow purpose (like you here, hating on HA no matter what, systematically, like it's the only thing you live your life for).
The higher cause is, and always was, the defense of lebanon. But today the immediate priority is taking out the hysterical hordes of takfiris, who are nothing more than zionist tools sent to die on their behalf.

Lying about what anonyme? You're not only dirt-cheap with your insults, you're also constantly hallucinating and making up things. Given your rudeness and irrelevancy you're not deserving of an answer, but I will still answer so you don't go too far into your delusion:

I never said there WAS a movie theater in Dahiyeh (I actually don't know if there is or not), I said nobody "forbids" it as you claim. There isn't a movie theater in EVERY neighborhoods of Lebanon or of any country for that matter. Yet, when a neighborhood happens to not have a movie theater it doesn't mean anyone "forbade" it.

Ya habib albi ya Mystic, the Lebanese Forces started and ended as the Lebanese Resistance. hezbollah with all due respects to you and all concerned started off as the Islamic Resistance which is still fine by me, then helped liberate the South wou big thank you for it akid, but now has ended as anything but a resistance. Anyway........

Thumb joebustani 13 March 2015, 11:32

bless anyone person, entity, organization, brigade or country that inflicts pain and suffering, death, torture, and destruction upon the iranian sectarian terrorist militia and its members, supporters or followers wherever they may be.

Thumb justin 13 March 2015, 12:02

Hezbollah is the biggest threat to our unity, existence, and survival as an independent state. They are a "miracle" of the iranian revolution and the "miracle" manifests itself in everyday life, in their jihadist duties, in terrorizing their fellow citizens ( I doubt they are lebanese to begin with), in obstructing state institutions, and undermining Lebanon's relations with the Arab world. They use the term "resistance" as a pretext to focus inwards and to control the state.

Thumb -phoenix1 13 March 2015, 12:13

(1). There are times when opponents, (please mark my words, in this context I used opponents and not enemies), side together to fight a common enemy. Personally I can't feel overly concerned if and when fighting takes place outside Lebanese soil, but now after the dust has settled in regards to the Qalamoun area and others in Syria, I have good reasons to feel concerned. It is taking the might of Iran, plus what's left of the once mighty Syrian army plus Hezbollah to fight a terrorist organization, yet to our surprise all, they all can't seem to push IS or Al Nusra back or at least back enough, hence, it is the repercussions that concern people like me who have from the very beginning been warning about the pitfalls of any Lebanese side, be it Sunni, Shiite or Christian to meddle in a war way too big for us to handle.

Thumb Mystic 13 March 2015, 12:39

Incase you didn't follow up on the news lately, you should know the Resistance managed to push back and eradicate the takfiris around all fronts, Naharnet ofcourse never reports such achievements. How come the so called mighty U.S coalition failed to destroy ISIS? The Resistance have made more progress than any of the world powers on this matter.

Thumb -phoenix1 13 March 2015, 12:48

Mystic, I am following the news as much as you do, but in my case I read them from a variety of sources. Contrary to what you stated and since I focused in the Qalamoun area and other parts of Syria, the contrary seems to be in preponderance, IS is losing ground in Iraq but alas expanding in Syria. In Qalamoun, hezbollah has seen its limited gains reversed in recent times, thus the need for the Syrian, Iranian and HA alliance to try and push them back. Then I am afraid to tell you, had it not been for the US and coalition forces airstrikes like in Kobane, IS would by today have taken almost all of Syria and Iraq. Don't get me wrong, I wish you best of luck, but I know that in the end whereas it concerns Lebanon, our army is the one that will have to clean up YOUR mess.

Thumb Mystic 13 March 2015, 13:13

Phoenix, thank you. You just gave me a good laugh. The Resistance managed to take Qusayr and Yabroud two major Nusra/ISIS strongholds, they also managed to take most of the rural Qalamoun, the only area the takfiris have left is an enclave where they have been under siege during the winter. Now the Resistance will make a final push on this area where over 3000 takfiris are based. The U.S airstrikes did nothing, they managed to save the Kurds and that's about it, everything else were merely a tickle on ISIS.

Thumb -phoenix1 13 March 2015, 14:29

Mystic, well khaye I am happy to have made you laugh well, it seems that I am making quite a few people laugh good these days, some to tears it seems, why not, better than make them cry. You said Yabroud and Qusayr, fine ya Mystic, would I be unhappy about IS and Nusra losing ground? hell no, you know well my position over the takfiris, my focus is on the fallout and the questions still remains, at what cost and at what collateral? That is a question that only our Lebanese Army will answer.

Thumb Mystic 13 March 2015, 14:54

You seem to want to downplay the Resistance achievements phoenix, that is no concern of mine, you wish what you want even our demise. But facts on the ground remains different, reality calls Phoenix.

Which is why I correct your comments, by stating the real facts on the ground, not from Achrafieh.

Missing peace 13 March 2015, 14:56

perfect miss tic... let your hords of iranian savages get killed in syria... the less in Lebanon the better for the country!

Thumb Mystic 13 March 2015, 15:13

peas the hag, is still screaming madly, I better run away now & throw my cellphone in the sea. Catch you later phoenix

Thumb -phoenix1 13 March 2015, 12:14

(2). Now after we've see the effects of the fallout, the only major hope rests squarely on the hands of the Lebanese Army and no one else, may good fortune be with our troops and may God protect our soldiers from the ramifications of ideology payback and all its hideous calculations, or rather, miscalculations.

Missing idris_gray 13 March 2015, 14:03

LOL...for 4 years now these "resistance" terrorists have been saying they are on the verge of defeating the rebels yet they still cannot. They have had some victories, sure, but still with the Syrian army, the Iranian army, and hezbollat, supposedly the best guerilla army, they still cannot defeat a ragtag group of rebels...

Missing peace 13 March 2015, 16:58

isn't it funny to read the comments of the hezbi lovers here so proud of their iranian militia, boasting its might and strength but till now cannot defeat isis or nusra to the extent they need the syrian army and the iranian revolutionnary guards to help them... LOL
but as you say texas: let them kill each other, less islamists roaming in the area!
