Health Minister Wael Abou Faour decided on Monday after the recurrent death cases in hospitals in the northern district of Akkar to transfer LL1 billion to Abdullah al-Rasi Public Hospital in Halba.

The state-run National News Agency reported that Abou Faour decided to lower the financial aid in contracts with private hospitals in Akkar and transfer the money, which amounts to LL1 billion, to Abdullah al-Rasi Public Hospital.

The minister's step comes in light of the death of an infant in Akkar after several hospitals allegedly refused to admit him.

Abou Faour ordered an investigation with Rahhal and al-Youssef hospitals on March 2 after Mounir al-Hawli filed a complaint with the Halba police station, claiming that several hospitals in the region did not admit his four-month-old son Abdul Raouf.

It was not clear what the baby was suffering from.

Several similar cases of deaths have been recorded across the country, in particularly in the north.
