Change and Reform: We Reject Govt. Mentality of 'Vacuum or Accepting Extension of Terms'

The Change and Reform bloc condemned on Tuesday the appointment of “unqualified” individuals at positions at various state institutions, stressing the need to adhere to the constitution.

MP Ibrahim Kanaan stated after the bloc's weekly meeting: “We reject the government's approach of either facing vacuum or accepting the extension of terms of officials or authorities, such as parliament.”

He then listed a number of cases where Lebanon was faced with vacuum or an extension, such as last year's postponed parliamentary elections.

The elections were not held due to security fears and failure of political blocs to agree on a new electoral law, which consequently led to the parliament extending its term for a second time.

The Change and Reform bloc voted against the extension for a second time.

Kanaan also noted the debate over the tenures of security officials, which include that of Army Commander General Jean Qahwaji.

His term ends in September and it was previously extended for two years in 2013.

“Continuing in this deliberate government approach will only impose options that violate the constitution,” said Kanaan.

He added that the approach serves factionalism and will incur negative repercussions on the country.

“It seems that the constitutional violations target a certain sect, especially Christians,” he remarked.

He warned that the bloc may call for an extraordinary meeting should the situation in Lebanon continue.

Kanaan: Adhering to the constitution will safeguard coexistence.

Kanaan: We warn the executive and constitutional authorities of continuing the current mentality.

Apply the constitution and head to parliament to elect a president instead of trying to sound smart, which you are not.

Mr. Kanaan, our solution is so simple: Go to Rabieh, check with the deranged rabied man there, or better known as Caporal Al Capoun Aoun the Claoun, tell him that he should stop dreaming and that he should accept that ride to Deyr El Salib. There in Deyr El Salib, there will be enough like him whom he can appoint as his ministers, to keep them busy let them pretend that they are actually ruling the country. You Mr. Kanaan can go to visit for as often as you like, but take him now and all we need to do is to elect a real president for all the Lebanese. The claoun can finish his days in peace in the one and only institution that truly befits the lunatic.

Yes, "we reject..." This should be the motto of the FPM. It is their calling card, their raison d etre, their political program all wrapped up into two words, We Reject. Unless whatever policy promotes Le petite generale or his in laws, "We Reject!!" Lately, even members of the FPM who eat at Aoun's trough filled with oats provided by his Iranian Paymasters balk at the idea of Thibran Bathill as the new farm owner.
