Taimur Jumblat Appointed to Prominent PSP Position ahead of Succeeding his Father as Chief

Taimur Jumblat, the son of Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat, has been appointed as a “guiding member” of the party, in a step that would allow him to later run for its leadership council and consequently head the party, reported Voice of Lebanon radio on Monday.

Meanwhile, on Friday Jumblat spoke of a “shock” he will present during the party’s general assembly scheduled for the end of the month, reported al-Akhbar newspaper on Saturday.

Sources predicted that he will call on the party leadership to resign in order to allow a new wave of young members to assume administrative positions in the PSP.

He will also call on his followers to launch a “workshop of renewal in the party’s general organization and political approach to encourage youth participation,” said the sources.

Asked in an interview with al-Manar television on Friday if Taimur would succeed him as the leader of the Progressive Socialist Party, Jumblat responded that he will monitor his political work, adding that his acquiring of prominent responsibilities in the party depends on other factors and not on the MP alone.

The sources denied that Jumblat is seeking to withdraw from political life in Lebanon.

Yes from the senior to the junior this is the feodalism
only president Fouad Chehab did not bring his son ????

Thumb jabalamel 17 October 2011, 12:28

yes, but you can be sure when other sects get rid of these families, the druze will still hold to them.
i guess that's druze, you just accept them what they are

Thumb Marc 17 October 2011, 13:22

i ask myself, ARE the people in lebanon so tribal or dumb?

Thumb jabalamel 17 October 2011, 14:48

yes

Thumb jabalamel 17 October 2011, 14:55

if you were lebanese, you would know that.

Thumb benzona 17 October 2011, 15:15

Heredity, nepotism, cronyism are anti democratic. This isn't just happening in Lebanon. Many centuries ago, the popes had children of their own and put them as successors in the Vatican. However, this became forbidden. Can't corrupt politicians do the same for the sake of their citizen?

i think the Druze will start to realize that its time for change and openess, in line with the arab spring we should get rid of those small dictators from different confessions, and seriously build a nation coz these clowns like jumblat and others are just profiting from us as lebanese being divided by different religions and sects...

Thumb geha 17 October 2011, 17:24

Missing zoro 17 October 2011, 18:23

and what if Taimur happened to be an idiot?

Thumb jabalamel 17 October 2011, 18:29

someone from halucinatory zionist information war department is suggesting that i disrespect druze.

now let's analyize what i've said
1. the druze will stick to the hereditary system longer than others. i guess that's druze, you just accept them what they are.
2. people in lebanon (ATTENTION: ALL PEOPLE NOT JUST DRUZE) are tribal and dumb.

now where did i shown disrespect to druze?

maybe the zionist behind miniliban didn't understand what i said. since i don't hebrew so i can't explain you.

Jabalamel you would know this about the Druze, how? As an amal supporter who had his armed militia on the streets of Beirut destroying our city and our tourist season. Yet you remain a supporter, that makes you a perfect example of dumb. Don't include all Lebanese, when it's just people like you.

Sadly, most Lebanese are just lemmings who blindly follow the greedy leaders of their sects/political parties without utilizing critical thinking and free will to decide on their own individual beliefs.

i.e. The mentality is: I am from Religion type A, sect type B, and village type C. So I must follow his holiness douche-bag leader Z without question.. and all others who are different are wrong! (Click the dislike button if you think this way)

If only such Nepotism/Cronyism were pervasive at highest echelons of Lebanese society. It's not. EVERYBODY who's ANYBODY "knows a guy who knows a guy" (in politics, business, etc...don't be proud of it)!

Who else had been prepping their sons: Kim Jon IL and Moammar Ghaddafi to name a few (is this the kind of company the 'democratic?' Lebanese want to keep?)

It's a "The King is dead. Long live the King" mentality! It's a "Keeping it in the family" mentality! It's a "protect your own kind" mentality. It's a "I'm-gonna-be-SICK" mentality!

STOP!

dont blame the druze or any other sect or religion in lebanon for doing this.. you can only blame the government and system and the law's where if any lebanese individual needs anything for his government he needs basically to go to the leader of his sect to get the help he needs.. in lebanon you need a leader to help you out when ur in trouble.. or in a need of a job.. or to go get a gov job like army police etc.. immagine you live in a country where the gov. decides how many christians druze sunnis shiies etc .. can go to the army this year lets say druze has the privilege to get 150 men or women in one of the gov jobs .. so if you were druze and you dont have walid you wont go the army of lebanon this year .. this is a horrible state... this is not a country.. a lots of idiots and small minded peoples who shows hate to each others.. like Le phenicien who cant handle a conversation without showing the hates to other politicians then his mighty general..

@ Le Phenicien: Without Jumblatt this Aoun-Huzb Allah government wouldn't have been possible, idiot.
