Geagea Calls on Businessmen to Safeguard Interests of Expats
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةLebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea called on Lebanese businessmen to safeguard the interests of the expats abroad, expressing concern over the campaign targeting Saudi Arabia and its repercussions.
Geagea stressed after a meeting with a delegation from the Lebanese Business and Investment Council in Saudi Arabia that endeavors are ongoing to reduce any harm targeting Lebanese businessmen in any foreign country.
The gatherers discussed the challenges facing expats in the Gulf due to a "campaign of falsifications," targeting in particular Saudi Arabia.
"Businessmen are concerned... they don't understand the reason behind the verbal assault as it doesn't match the kingdom's hosting of a large number of Lebanese," Geagea pointed out.
The LF leader conveyed the concerns of the businessmen over their interests, expressing relief over the kingdom's positive role in Lebanon.
Geagea called on Lebanese politicians not to harm the interests of the Lebanese.
Hizbullah has been recently directing a barrage of criticism at Saudi Arabia over its airstrike campaign targeting Yemen's Shiite Huthi rebels.
Hizbullah officials have warned Riyadh that it would be defeated and would pay a heavy price for its attacks.
There are around 500,000 Lebanese expats in the Gulf.
Last month, the UAE, which hosts 100,000 Lebanese workers, expelled around 70 expatriates, mostly Shiites.
In 2009, dozens of Lebanese Shiites who had lived in the UAE for years were expelled on suspicion of links with Hizbullah.
In 2013, Qatar deported 18 Lebanese nationals after the Gulf Cooperation Council decided to impose sanctions against Hizbullah for its military intervention in war-torn Syria to support President Bashar Assad.

Pajama Boy, it's bedtime for you and for your chief.
Only Lebanese should care about Lebanon, the Iranian and the Saudis are too busy keeping alive.
They bit more than can chew.

LOL, this here is the epitome of credibility and journalistic integrity!
flamethrower the propagandist!
Uncle Flamethrower, why didn't your hezb and Aoun prosecute Saniora for all his alleged crimes when they had the Aoun-HA government for more than 2 years? That would have been the perfect time.... huh?
By the way
@slah flamethrower does not care about the media, he makes up his own stories....
"...flamethrower--
unlike you, i care nothing of what goes on in the media. i source my opinions from the street and day to day life, not from the media cesspits you drink from."
So to answer your question, flamethrower sources are the STREET;)
and here's how flamethrower answered why aoun did not prosecute saniora during the aoun-HA government
"...flamethrower--
they gave evidence and put it in the hands of the ministry of justice, who happens to be saudi-owned."
"eagledawn
was the minster of justice during the Aoun-HA government Saudi owned? LOL LOL"
"...flamethrower--
yes he was. miqati and suleiman had their ministers which you seem to overlook (:"
So, in the end flamethrower said that Shakib Qortbawi (Maronite, Free Patriotic Movement) was saudi owned:)))))
I have no hatred at all. This is your perception. I am only stating facts I get from inside circles. So many people have left and continue to receive inside info.
Business is bad for the economy, only the culture of the Resistance, Jihad, death and destruction is good. God's envoy over in Tehran fatwad so.
No ...flamethrower-- that's not right you are obviously confused by the rhetoric. Everywhere isis rules there is that same culture of Jihad, death and destruction. Ziad Rahbani for example can shed more light on the subject, as can Salman Rushdie. I find first person accounts always preferable. You see Hezballah is the original Da3esh and IMHO still the best.
I'm always available to explain things for you ...flamethrower--
Another fact is that you support someone whom you do not know exactly who he is. My info tells me with a great degree of certainty that the caporal works for his personal interest. Nothing more, nothing less.
The matter about his mental illness is a also certainty. No hatred in it.
Finally, Go to Ehmej and ask for the villa of Simon whose monthly income in Paris was less than a thousand euros!
I will also get you the address in London.
FT, are you nuts or what?! Me play dual accounts?!! Me too, I did not think that you ya FT had it in you to suspect people of the very things that you do. 3an jad I thought a lot better of you. I have been in this forum long enough and everyone can see that I do not do these things, no way!! You know FT, I have a reputation, I am known to say what I feel without being apologetic, and my reputation also goes further, that when someone is nasty to me, me too, I can be very nasty, at times going as late till next day, so why would I need to behave like some imbeciles here? Say what you like of my FT, but don't mistake me for anyone else, I am The 1 Phoenix and no one else, and the MODS can attest to that, so cut the BS if you don't mind FT OK?
call on the gvt to make Lebanon a developped country instead with electicity, water, good roads, preserved environement, low prices.... tfeh
Portugal's Attorney-General's office says officials are searching government offices and other locations as part of a corruption and money-laundering investigation centered on the granting of residence permits to investors from outside the European Union.
The Finance Ministry said the office of the secretary of state for tax affairs was one of 34 places searched Wednesday.
Portugal offers so-called "golden visas" to non-EU citizens who invest large amounts. More than 80 percent have been granted to Chinese citizens, and the program has brought investments totaling more than 1 billion euros ($1.1 billion).
The Finance Ministry said in a statement that Paulo Nuncio, the secretary of state for tax affairs, was questioned about sales tax on a deal between a Portuguese company and Libya's Health Ministry.
Authorities declined to provide further details. (AP).
