He revealed after holding talks with Prime Minister Najib Miqati that the premier will travel to London on November 7 where he is scheduled to meet with his British counterpart David Cameron.
“This will be an important opportunity to demonstrate our solidarity for the Lebanese people,” the ambassador stressed.
He added: “We discussed the situation in the region, and the vital importance of Lebanon’s stability and sovereignty. As part of this, the UK is implementing a three-part plan, involving increased support for the Lebanese army, the protection of the banking sector, and support for priority reforms to encourage investment.”
“We discussed the Special Tribunal for Lebanon. I remain confident that Lebanon’s leaders will take the right decisions, in the interests of Lebanon,” said Fletcher.
“I hope that the question of the international response should this fail to be the case will remain a hypothetical question. Wise heads should prevail,” he stated.
