New Campaign Demands Recovery of Privatized Public Properties

W460

Change is on the Way, is a new campaign that protesters kicked off on Saturday calling for the recovery of public lands and the free access to beaches that became private property, the state-run National News Agency said.

The movement started in Beirut’s Zaitunay Bay waterfront, where protesters took food and drinks to enjoy on the wooden corniche.

Banners were raised and some read "This Sea is Ours."

Zaitunay Bay is infamous for its high-end restaurants and chic yacht parties and has proven to be a heavy attraction for tourists, locals and Beirut-lovers alike.

The move comes as part of a reminder that public properties should be free, in light of the fact that the majority of Lebanon's beaches have been turned into private enterprises.

Good job. Reclaim it all and put the people responsible in front of a jury.

What about politicians and people with influence who built their beachfront homes on public property?

When we say that the mafia has stolen everything, this is now the proof, let the good of the people be returned and let us not stop until everything is returned.

All the beaches belong to all the people of Lebanon. People can own the land near the beach, but not the beach itself!

SOJ, correct, in all countries of the world, people or enterprises can own the land adjacent to the beach, but I believe by and large that at least approx between 100 to 200 meters clearance should be left vacant as this is what is called the people's domain. People have the right to use the beaches at their convenience and no one has the right to prevent them. Now that the conscience of the people has been awoken, let us now reclaim what is ours, everything means everything, period.

cool! let's nationalize everything

Thumb Machia 13 September 2015, 13:47

Lebanon has become a republic of killers, thieves and protester.
Wherever you are in the world, if you are Lebanese, you are one of those. This is how we express our national identity.
If you vote for Hezbollah or for any party with them, you are a killer and a corrupt militiaman by association.
If you vote for Hairi, Berri or Jumblatt's parties, you are a thief by association.
If you do not vote and are very good at complaining, you are a protester and timewaster.
The country worked much better when Syria was occupying it.
We do not deserve our country. We stink.

Nationalize Solidere and give back the stolen land to their rightful owners. St George must and will be rebuilt despite Solidere dirty acts
