The Lebanese army command said Thursday there will be a temporary freeze to all arms licenses based on a decree issued by Defense Minister Fayez Ghosn.

Decree number 1199 called for a temporary freeze to all arms licenses throughout the country starting 12:00 am Wednesday.

However, the decree exempted all diplomats, and security guards of current and former ministers and MPs and heads of parties from the license suspension.

The army command’s communiqué warned that all violators will be subject to judicial prosecution.

The decision taken by the Lebanese army is meaningless. Stopping the sale of licensed guns in a country that has a healthy gun black market is pointless. Guns and ammo's are still in plenty in the market. Just ask Hizbullah, which part of their arsenal is licensed?

Why are they taking such a decision?
Let everyone get an arm and let's kill each others.

Much more fun, isn't it?
