Aoun Says March 8 Must Decide on Franjieh's Nomination, Not Hariri

W460

Change and Reform bloc chief MP Michel Aoun has announced that it is up to the March 8 coalition to decide whether or not to nominate Marada Movement leader MP Suleiman Franjieh for the presidency.

“My stance on Franjieh's nomination will either complicate or facilitate the situation and I will declare it before the (presidential) elections take place,” Aoun said in an interview with Russia Today television that was aired Monday on OTV.

His remarks come amid a flurry of political talks in the country that followed a Paris meeting between Franjieh and al-Mustaqbal movement leader ex-PM Saad Hariri. The meeting sparked intense speculation that the two leaders agreed to the nomination of the Marada chief for the presidency.

However, Aoun said Monday that he has not been officially informed until the moment of any “agreement” between Hariri and Franjieh.

He added: “Why should Suleiman Franjieh's nomination come from Saad Hariri?”

Asked about the feasibility of a settlement involving a March 8 president and a March 14 premier, Aoun described such a scenario as a “fair solution” while stressing that “each camp must choose its own candidate.”

Turning to the issue of the electoral law, Aoun reiterated his call for a law based on the proportional representation system.

Why should Franjieh's nomination come from Hariri? Lol at least Hariri is offering a compromise by nominating an M8 figure. What more does the lunatic want?

Thumb the_roar 01 December 2015, 00:33

Again you miss the point nickjames-m14.... Hariri along with Jumblat, berri etc will propose anyone but the true representative of the Christians in lebanon, that being without a shadow of a doubt "Gen Aoun"

The day you understand this is the day you will understand why the Christians of Lebanon will never be truly represented.

Now take your goodwill gesture "hariri" & shove it...time to allow the people of Lebanon to vote directly.

Excuse me? lol Aoun is not the "true" representative of Christians. If he was then he would be sitting on the chair right now. He wouldn't need to boycott parliament sessions because then he'd be boycotting his own candidacy. It's because he represents only one faction of Christians that he's boycotting, because he is not leader of all Christians. As of the 2009 elections he barely leads half, and whenever the next elections are held he would represent less than half -- now that Bassil is the puppet leader of the FPM and many Aouniyeh have renounced their membership because of Bassil.

Fine then prove it by allowing the people to vote on it.

why are so scared of people voting?

all your BS spamming & lies simply doesn't answer why people voting is forbidden by you & m14.

Thumb nickjames 01 December 2015, 03:57

My spamming and lies lol right Roar... Stop acting like there's nothing preventing Lebanon from having a direct vote. Lebanon can't have a direct vote because it's not a democracy. It's not a democracy because it's sectarian. You can't have a Christian president then say let's have a direct vote, because Muslims would be voting for a Christian post. If you want a direct election, then the president can't be designated for Christians only. The constitution would need to be changed and it would need to eradicate the sectarianism.

"...is the day you understand why Christians will never be truly represented" lol we haven't truly been represented since Bashir. It's all the Christian leaders who came after Bashir that have kept Christians divided. Stop arguing that Aoun is righteous, he's a traitor who attacked Christians during the war, then he deserted his people when he was attacked. And when he came back he allied himself with terrorists.

Thumb nickjames 01 December 2015, 00:12

Not that I think Hariri is doing the right thing or that Franjieh should be president, at least he's entertaining the idea of a compromise. And while Franjieh shouldn't be president, he's not a senile deserter like Aoun lol

"March 8 must not name the premier"
Oh really they mustn't, are drunk old man? Don't you remember some dude named Mikati you senile fool?

Hariri did not nominate Frangieh. Hariri has chosen Frangieh over a mentally ill and senile person whose IQ is next to zero...

Missing humble 01 December 2015, 01:23

When Hariri met with the Caporal, he did not complain that Hariri was nominating him....only idiotic followers cannot see the poor argument of a senile person...

Missing humble 01 December 2015, 01:24

He is still in the "Nobody but me" ....whether it is Frangieh, the Batrak or Mar Maroun himself...

The man is mad and everyone can observe the degree of his psychotic illness.

Missing humble 01 December 2015, 01:39

Each and every political party leader has the right to chose whom he wants...this is a choice not a nomination

Missing humble 01 December 2015, 01:31

@the cat roaring

Your "general of generals" is terminated. He never was the true representative of Christians, but elected with the Shi3a voices...who have been manipulating him and now dropping him like a used Kleenex...

Their preference was Frangieh from the very beginning because this is what was the preference of the Butcher.

You and your "admiral of admirals" have been the "dindons de la farce"...now you can go back to school...

Change and Reform bloc MP Michel Aoun to Russia Today: The best electoral law is one based on proportional representation.

what happened to the Orthodox Law this lunatic was championing? Proportional representation will cripple Lebanon even more and will not benefit the Christians. It will only benefit Hezbollah in mixed sunni-shia areas.

Thumb the_roar 01 December 2015, 02:54

The Orthodox law was crushed by m14 & their Christian puppets..

Goldfish memory at best m14ers!
