Report: Salam Might Suspend Cabinet Sessions over Trash Hurdle
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةThe agenda of the next cabinet session slated for Thursday has been distributed on Lebanon's ministers and includes 169 items for discussion, although Prime Minister Tammam Salam threatens to halt it over a delay in solutions for the garbage file, An Nahar daily reported on Monday.
Ministerial sources said that Salam has deplored the slow progress in the months long trash management file and that he is ready to “turn tables” if no progress is made before the session is held.
Sources following up closely on the file told the daily that Salam is willing to suspend the cabinet meetings if the controversial file is not solved.
Lebanon's garbage crisis erupted when the Naameh landfill was closed in July 2015.
In December, the cabinet approved a waste export plan. But a scandal broke out revealing that Britain’s Chinook Urban Mining company, which was selected by the government to manage the export scheme, may have fabricated its permits.
Several plans to solve it have failed including one to establish landfills in several areas, which is being reconsidered by the cabinet in light of the absence of all other solutions.

G.K.
Just unbelievable how incompetent all of you are.
In the private sector the trash issue would have been resolved rapidly and efficiently.
Salam , if you don't solve the trash crisis , then you have lebanon's permission to resign and go home . I have never been so ashamed of being a lebanese ! afghanistan , yemen , somalia , all have a garbage removal system and we consider ourselves the cream of the arab world are sleeping with filth on the streets everywhere .
CNN's editorial was the epitome of disgrace for us and even the syrians ( who are the cause of all our problems ) were laughing at us "shammeteh"
Naharnet are removing my comments ! Even though I am holding myself back not trashing tayar and the hezb for all the damage Lebanon has undergone since 2005 and the Syrians for 40 years
