Suspect in al-Lino Bodyguard Murder Released
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةA Palestinian, who was suspected of being behind the assassination of Palestinian Armed Struggle chief Mahmoud Issa, has been released, reported Voice of Lebanon radio on Friday.
Abed Abdullah al-Ghazi was released after the Lebanese judiciary interrogated him over his role in the murder of Amer Fustoq.
He has since headed to the Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp in southern Lebanon.
Celebratory gunfire was heard in the camp soon after the news of Ghazi’s release.
Fustoq was killed on December 18 when a masked gunman opened fire on him.
Immediately after his killing, Issa, who goes by the nom de guerre of al-Lino, accused the remnants of extremist groups Jund al-Sham and Fatah al-Islam of involvement in the assassination.
On August 5, al-Lino himself escaped an assassination attempt by two members of Jund al-Sham.
Al-Lino’s Fatah Movement has warned that Jund al-Sham and Fatah al-Islam have become like an “octopus” that is seeking wider influence in the camp through recruiting young members.
