Suleiman Relays to Ahmadinejad Keenness on Ties Based on Mutual Respect

President Michel Suleiman sent a clear message to his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Monday about Lebanon’s keenness on the mutual respect in their bilateral relations.

A statement issued by the presidential palace, said Suleiman discussed with Iranian ambassador Ghazanfar Roknabadi the latest controversial remarks of the commander of Iran's Quds Force, Brig. Gen. Qasem Soleimani.

The commander had said that the people of southern Lebanon and Iraq are under the effect of Iran’s “way of practice and thinking.”

But his remarks were badly translated into Arabic and interpreted to mean that south Lebanon was under the Islamic republic’s influence.

Roknabadi reiterated to Suleiman the clarifications of the Iranian foreign ministry, the Baabda palace statement said.

“Upon hearing the clarifications, President Suleiman asked Ambassador Roknabadi to relay to the Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Lebanon’s keenness on the establishment of bilateral ties with a friendly state based on mutual respect and noninterference in internal affairs.”

Al-Mustaqbal movement MP Nohad al-Mashnouq urged Prime Minister Najib Miqati on Sunday to cut diplomatic relations with Tehran to protest Soleimani’s alleged remarks.

This is how the Tehran Times, voice of the Islamic Revolution, translated into English what Qasem Soleimani said.. BE AFRAID BE, VERY AFRAID:

TEHRAN 18 January 2012 – "Major General Qasem Suleimani, during a meeting on the Islamic awakening on Wednesday, said that South Lebanon and Iraq are under influence of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s “performance” and “thought”.

Suleimani, who is the commander of the Qods Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, also said that the Islamic Republic is able to steer the Islamic awakening movement in regional countries against the arrogant powers. He added Iran is the only country that can help regional people to establish Islamic systems in their countries."

Am looking forward to tomorrow just to see if Aoun is going to appear with or without an imperialist, Zionist, hated, evil, colonizing necktie.

What a joke of a relationship between Iran and Lebanon. Just look at the thugs in black, they didn't even bother to shave before meeting with our president. Disrespect and threats is Iran's way of governing (towards Lebanon, the west and the rest of the world). They will soon be all alone and forced to change their ugly habits.

They didn’t shave because they want to show they are men and not be confused with their hairy women. No tie but at least they have buttoned up unlike the MP members of the filthy militia whom look shabby and sweaty

bigdope is right, they are not in a Parisian/American hospital but maybe they are with their holy Shiite in the sewers knee deep in sewage where it's safe, still shaking afraid for their lives. At least they can hope that Iran will help them in establishing an Islamic systems in their country, I mean isn't that the only real reason why they get all that Iranian money and weapons.

If it wasn't for the Iranian Rebublic what other superpower nation would or could stand up against israel? Who else should control south Lebanon? Lebanon can't control it. Maybe Irain should move it's army to south Lebanon and control it directly. That would put fear the the west and they would trembel.

@ Castrone, stop beeing stupid, Iran cannot stand a chance and with Syria now out of the picture, against the US. Stop dreaming man, just look how they wanted to close down the canal a week ago and now they are retracting by saying they never wanted to do that and that everybody is welcome there. They are peeing in their pants. lebanon can control south Lebanon it has been doing so since 43 till 75, We just had bad luck because of Arabs throwing palestinians in Lebanon . and then Hezbollah in the south. So dont underestimate the capacity of your country and its army , and better start believing in it or else you can go live in Iran if you like maybe you'll feel more of a resistant , but please , dont lack balls when it comes to actions :)

Castrone, thank you for the laugh!!! Iran would make the west "tremble", good one!!!

Iran fought a stalemate with Saddam for 8 years, and Saddam's military lasted 2 weeks against desert storm. What are you smoking?
