Gemayel Discusses with Berri 'Ideas to Reinforce Consensus'

Phalange Party leader Amin Gemayel on Friday met with Speaker Nabih Berri in Ain al-Tineh, saying he discussed with him “some ideas that could reinforce consensus among all parties amid these circumstances.”

Gemayel said the proposed ideas would help “immunize our domestic arena in the face of all the storms around us.”

“It is normal to meet with Speaker Berri amid the current circumstances in the country, whether to discuss the domestic challenges or the external challenges, and today we all know about the dispute in parliament over the old and new state budgets, especially those which were not audited such as the so-called issue of the 11 billions,” Gemayel said after the meeting.

“This issue is creating a disagreement among the parties … We are in dire need to speak with one voice and end these marginal dispute in order to tackle the more important issues,” he added.

Gemayel said Berri was renowned for “finding solutions to the problematic issues.”

“We’re interested in cooperating with him in order to find an exit to this dispute,” he added.
