March 14 Regains Majority in Engineers Order Elections
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةA list backed by the March 14 forces, the Progressive Socialist Party and the Jamaa Islamiya won all five seats in the by-elections of the Beirut Order of Engineers and Architects held on Sunday.
By claiming all five seats, the aforementioned coalition seized the majority on the council. The March 8 forces only needed to win one seat in order to retain their majority.
The triumphant Syndical Action list comprised George al-Feghali (4,642 votes), Jahida Itani (4,710 votes), Michel Matta (4,576 votes), Marwan Sharrouf (4,573 votes) and Mughir Senjabeh (4,620 votes).
Some 9,824 engineers and architects out of 27,000 eligible members -- who had paid their annual subscription fees -- took part in the heated election.
Amid normal security measures taken by the Internal Security Forces, the vote did not witness any incident.
Politics have polluted everything!!! this is why i never voted at these elections.
The order of Engineer's job should be to regulate and advance the profession and NOT make it hostage to political bickering.
The Kataeb should seperate from March 14 because they are turning M14 into a muslim rights organisation. Pfttt
Divide et impera. Well tried! m14 isn't about religion at all, it's about aspiring to more freedom and democracy.... Whilst m8 is strictly focused on theocracy and oppression.
Divide and Rule does not work in lebanon. Lebanon is based on religion. NO christians means no lebanon.
Its simple, Kataeb will not stand for a government controlled by muslims - as it currently is.
They will not stay in M14 for much longer but nor will they go to M8. They will stand independent and the voters will vote for them because they are independent.
Or perhaps you really do believe that political establishments are not about religion in lebanon?? of corse they are - ma libnan kella is about secterian divide - the muslims forced this on us, it wasnt the christians that wanted it - christians were happy with everyone living side by side in peace then the sunnies started killing christians in Akkar .... perhaps everyone forgot about that!!
Question for Cedar: what differentiates you from 'israelconspiracy' ? answer: nothing. both preach arrogantly hatred. Whether you're right or not about Christians in Akkar (I wasn't born) we turned the page of civil war. We moved on a long time ago. The problem is Hezbollah who brings us back , in time, to Lebanon's darkest hours.
Cedar:
I think you got your facts wrong. Sunnis killing Christian in Akkar. I think the people in Akkar are worried about eating rather than kill Christians! My experience with the Christians in Lebanon and abroad is they have an identity crisis. They don't know whether they want to be French or Lebanese. You experience this when you go to Lebanon the way they pretend to be civilized by talking French in restaurants and pubs. My question is, when you go to France, do they speak Arabic? Its time for the Christians to wake up and realize the status quota has changed. It will never go back to pre 1975 when Lebanon was under an apartheid supported by the Christians. If they don't like it go to France, (like France wants them!!)

@gq
... and muslims speak English... what kind of lame comment is that?? And how is it related to the topic?
Now that thy're done with the political charades...let's see which one of them is actually going to look after the engineers...fix the enrollment process so that it doesn't take 5 months to become a member...consider a little bit of operational optimization so that you dont have to go up and down 3 stories every time you need to sign a paper at the syndicate...
such comments are so lame!!
the kataeb are an integral part of M14 and will never turn their back to its principles like FPM :)
so rest assured the existing coalition is not sectarian like M8, and it will prevail because it is on the side of right.
Dear Readers,
I will respond in two parts, The First is directed @ benzona & the Second @ gq_leb
First, I am Lebanese Christian Maronite My family is part-responsible for the establishment of the state of Lebanon. To the point where they were asking us "should we have tripoli and the north as part of lebanon or give it to syria?" - Do not think you know anything - when i speak i speak the truth as it is.
You said you have turned the page of the civil war because you were not born - well this in it self proves Lebanese arrogence and stupidity. It is because Lebanese forget the past (or dont acknowledge it) that they will be doomed to repeat it.
I am trying to remind readers that we must learn from the past.
It was clear that the sunni's attacked the christians first in sections of Akkar including the village Bait Mellat and they did it just because they were christian and did not believe in muhamed - quite similar to the ottoman oppresion of the christians in Lebanon.
Benzona, the problem IS NOT Hezbollah - Hezbollah is only a symptom of the problem.
The problem Lebanon has is the secular power structure of the parliament.
Lebanon will not work with christians and muslims side by side. The religions themselves simply dont allow for it and the climate of the middle east makes it worse (islamic monarchy influence via Saudi arabia and Iran)
The only way to make peace in Lebanon is for the Lebanese government to be a dictatorial one eg. Kingdom. The orders come from the top down and all follow based on Chrisianity as the main religion.
If Muslims are going to stay in lebanon - then christians must withdraw from authority, they cannot have it both ways - the muslims will not allow it (secretly) - this is part in the same reason why the Assad and Israel Killed Bachir Gemayel - because he was going to make peace with everyone.
so my friends - not taking into account a million reasons why Hezbollah and the Future group and FPM and Amal and the LF and the Kataeb and the rest are not doing anyone any favours.
The only solution in lebanon is for it to become a Christian Monarchy with a christian population - OR - for the muslims to take control of Government completely - either way its ugly because the muslims will never let the christians flourish under their total rule, and the christians will never allow themselves to be wiped out and they will fight.
Ultimately there will be a final war - and it will decide the christian presence in Lebanon and the middle east as a whole.
This is the truth - like it or not - the future is in your hands.
"The orders come from the top down and all follow based on Chrisianity as the main religion."
You are worse than Hassan Nasrallah! Lebanon should not have Islamic law or Christian law! A country of 4 million with 18 sects should have NO RELIGIOUS LAW DAMNIT! If you want to start a civil war go ahead, we are in 2012, not the middle ages. We need a secular government! Where sect does not matter in the government! Moderately and with time, this would help Lebanese be less sectarian such as yourself. We are all Lebanese whether you like it or not! It is not the Christian Republic of Lebanon! Nor is it the Islamic republic of Lebanon! It is just LEBANON! Kulluna lil watan!
bro it is not kulluna lil watan, it is kullina la shu bet emin. Because bro there is NO FLAG and NO WATAN without national consensus. and if it were only up to the Lebanese then yes i agree with you, you can have peace - but its not lebanon only here - it is the Devil who is the prince of darkness who controls the governments who in turn influence religions and in turn influence Lebanon.
U want peace in Lebanon - take it up with the Devil OR Fight in the name of God against other countries and their banking and media establishments and spread the truth - because the truth will set everyone free!
