Aoun: MPs are Inciting EDL Contract Employees to Action

Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun stated on Tuesday that Electricite du Liban contract employees will not reach their goals through their latest actions.

He said after the Change and Reform bloc’s weekly meeting: “Some MPs, who we will not name, have been inciting the employees to action.”

The contract employees escalated their protests on Tuesday as they held a sit-in at the company’s headquarters in Beirut’s Mar Mikhael area.

A dispute occurred between the Internal Security Forces after the riot police demanded protesters not to leave the sit-in hall and to stop using loudspeakers.

They have been demonstrating for the past four weeks against the cabinet’s failure to approve their full-time employment.

Aoun added that the number of contract employees actually exceeds that of the rest of the workers at the company.

“The ISF are not assuming their responsibilities in protecting the employees,” he stressed.

“The people’s regard to a position in public institutions is decreasing. The ministers and MPs have duty to improve this image,” noted the FPM chief.

Furthermore, the MP held President Michel Suleiman for the current “crippling” of government functioning, saying: “We will meet at the national dialogue and speak before everyone.”

“One side cannot take control of the entire country as it requires the assistance of all powers,” he remarked.

Suleiman had issued on Monday an invitation to all the concerned powers to resume the national dialogue on June 11.

Aoun condemned the “crimes being committed by individuals who enjoy political protection”: Where is the role of the judiciary and Interior Ministry in tackling this issue? We will leave it up to them to perform their duties.

  • 29 May 2012, 17:06

Aoun: Officials are deliberately refraining from allowing the people from achieving their rights.

  • 29 May 2012, 17:05

Aoun: The president is directly responsible for this situation. We will meet at the national dialogue table and discuss the matter.

Aoun: This incitement will not yield any results. The security forces have not assumed their responsibility in this matter and they did not protect the employees.

I thank god everyday that Aoun is just a syrian tool and that he hasnt got Hezbollah militia like Nasrallah has or else he would have burned the country a long time ago with all that power. I would like to thank Nasrallah, even if an adversary, for not beeing incited by Aoun's hatred towards everybody. Anyway, soon enough, Hezbollah will steer away from this fool, he is bringing them to much trouble.

Mr. Crowley, what went on in your head
Oh Mr. Crowley, did you talk to the dead
Your lifestyle to me seemed so tragic
With the thrill of it all
You fooled all those people with magic
You waited on Satan's call
Mr. Charming, did you think you were pure
Mr. Alarming, in nocturnal rapport
Uncovering things that were sacred, manifest on this earth
Conceived in the eye of a secret
Yeah, they scattered the afterbirth

Mr. Crowley, won't you ride my white horse?
Mr. Crowley, it's symbolic of course
Approaching a time that is classic
I hear that maidens call
Approaching a time that is drastic
Standing with their backs to the wall

it's not about who is behind the protest is about the reason of the protest. On many occasions Aoun asked people to be ready to go to the street to ask for their rights, but now because it is against him and his Gebran 1Bessil, he is criticizing and politicizing it. Aoun, you can fool some people some time but you cannot fool all the people all the time. Soon you'll be out

This is the visible route to the Lebanese economical crises.
Within a few years only a few will have work. House prices will become normal. What at the moment costs 150,000 US$ will be sold for 50,000 US$ (still 25,000 US$ more than the construction costs).
Lebanon made itself bankrupt by not given people their basic rights. Food, work, shelter and love. Where is the youth of Lebanon to take over!
Ok, I understand, abroad, emmigrated.

Yep, I also still see those Omega signs on the walls with 1559 next to it

Default-user-icon boujamrah (Guest) 30 May 2012, 16:15

Observers, the Omega sign also incorporated a cedar, symbol of Lebanon. Notice how Aoun ditched that after he made a deal with Bashar and Hassan. The new cedarless check mark logo symbolizes Aoun becoming a regional tool and his automatic signing off on anything and everything the Iranian militia and the syrian regime say.
