Interior Minister Marwan Charbel stressed on Sunday the importance of national dialogue in tackling pending issues in Lebanon, saying that dialogue must never stop, reported Voice of Lebanon radio.

He told VDL: “All precautions have been taken ahead of Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi’s visit to Akkar.”

“Everyone is welcome to the visit,” he said.

Commenting on the arrest of former minister and MP Michel Samaha, he said: “The security forces arrested Samaha with the General Prosecution’s approval.”

“This issue will not affect the national dialogue,” added Charbel.

Addressing calls for severing ties with Syria in light of Samaha’s arrest, the minister noted: “The suspension of ties is a political decision, while Samaha’s arrest is linked to the legal field.”

The Military Tribunal charged on Saturday Samaha and Syrian security Chief Maj. Gen. Ali Mamlouk with forming a group to commit crimes in Lebanon.

Some reports said that they were planning on carrying out attacks against various political and religious figures, including al-Rahi during his four-day visit to Akkar and Tripoli, which he kicks off on Monday.

The patriarch had held talks on Friday with Army Commander General Jean Qahwaji on various developments in Lebanon and his visit to Akkar.

Qahwaji stressed that the military institution has taken all necessary arrangements for the trip.

1-The issue will not affect national dialogue: there is no such thing as a national dialogue. The national dialogue is just a coffee-table, with no agenda, and one party implicated (probably soon accused) of murder of a PM and others, allying with a country which has always plotted and still is plotting against Lebanon, standing itself, as a mere offshoot of another country which has exactly done the same and probably worse when the full truth be know!

2- I just wonder what would have happened if a similar plot had been discovered in Syria, with Lebanese plotting to kill Assad, or anyone in his clique. The bear minimum would be to lodge a protest through diplomatic channels.
What one can draw from this whole business is the following:
- Samaha has probably been offering his loyal services for the syrians for a long time. No wonder his name was leaked in the press when Mehlis was still investigating the Hariri case.
-Since Samaha is deemed to have said : ' this is what Assad wants ', read: Assad gave such orders, one can draw the conclusion that he knew about, and gave the orders regarding Hariri's assassination and that of others even if in this particular case, it was executed by the Iranian wing of his political allies

3- This security ' affair ' reveals a model approach to the business with Lebanon ! Read, there are other sleeping traitors which have been part of the same model approach to creating unrest and strife in the country. Some of those names have always been whispered in the Hariri case too, and soon will be stars of their own under the media spotlight, .....and not just to bark when asked to do so by remote control.
- In the case of Samaha the evidence will be backed by some financial transactions when the banking secret on his accounts will be lifted!

- It's puzzling to see the general public, and the politicians acting as though they did't know that Syria has been the real enemy of Lebanon all those years, so is Iran, plotting against us, Their tactics were made possible with the help of local traitors which are part of the local fabric, just the same way, some french ' petainistes ' allied with nazi Germany and Hitler during WWII. Those lebanese are the real enemies of Lebanon too and should be dealt with accordingly when the wheels turn !
The talk of Israel's involvment in Hairi's assassination, of liberating shebaa, of resisting Israel, etc... is a wine leave which has dropped long ago. It's naked bearers, should wipe their a.s with it today, cause they're totally naked anyway!

On the Tayyar forum GBD-117 got kudos from Ataraxia for: "So Samaha wants to blow up some Salafis, what's the problem."

I guess the little girls in the Tayyar now think that his Eminence the Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi is a Salafis, brilliant!

The Patriarch has been for quite sometime more supportive of M8 and for a brief while was against the revolution in Syria.... Than the syrian regime attempts to assassinate him.. I wonder how does that feel...
