Security Sources and Aley University Clarify Bomb Scare
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةTwo gasoline bottles attached to firecrackers were found near the National University in the Mount Lebanon town of Aley, a security source told Voice of Lebanon radio (93.3) on Sunday.
The report came after the National News Agency said two large juice bottles were filled with gasoline and attached to a detonator, leading to a bomb scare.
But the security source told VDL that the military expert did not find any plot to carry out a bombing when he inspected the materials.
The university that is owned by MP Akram Shehayyeb, a member of Walid Jumblat’s National Struggle Front bloc, also denied in a statement that an explosive was found near the institution.
“What was found was less than an explosive,” it said in a vague statement.
The “university has a long history of education and coexistence and keeps itself at a distance from politics,” it said.
The statement added that the institution does not differentiate between students from different affiliations.
a small polite reminder to WJ from hizb al shaytan...... Thats the mistake with jumblat, he should have armed...Swizerland is a neutral peacefull country, non confrantational in its foreign affairs, but the Swiss have a formidable high tech army to defend its neutrality and thats one of the reasons that hitler never invaded in ww2
For all practical purposes lebanon is federation of regions and if u show weakness, you will be bullied by the strong. Even our army is bullied..
hitler did not invade because he needed the financial backing. The swiss army was no match for the german army.
However, I agree that the central government/army should be strong enough to make small factions think twice before taking action.
Michel - Dont be naive, I said its ONE of the reason, not the ONLY reason. I know that the Swiss Army was no match, but it was a formidable army and could been a headache to Hitler. This is common knowledge
Thats not to say that the Swiss banks were not bank rolling Hitler, but a powerfull army is a deterent.
