Charbel Confirms Attack on Aoun's Convoy, But Security Sources Deny

Interior Minister Marwan Charbel confirmed on Sunday claims that Free Patriotic Movement leader Michel Aoun's convoy was shot at in the southern city of Sidon but stressed the shooting targeted an empty vehicle.
The shot targeted one of the distraction vehicles that was on the road before the actual convoy, he told LBCI television.
Investigation in underway to find the source of gunfire, he said.
The incident took place near Bahaeddine Hariri mosque in the southern city of Sidon, according to the FPM's press office.
But Charbel later told MTV the only evidence that the shooting took place was a bullet hole found on the car.
His remarks came after security sources denied that any such incident took place in the area.
The involved authorities have asked to examine the motorcade's vehicles but FPM officials rejected, they told An Nahar newspaper published Sunday.
Voice of Lebanon radio (100.5) also reported that the army and security forces were hugely deployed in the area where the alleged shooting took place but they didn't notice any such incident.
Later in the day, it quoted security sources as saying that the inspection of the vehicle that was shot at showed that it had been hit with a Kalashnikov rifle's bullet in the back door.
Aoun's OTV said that Prosecutor of the South Judge Samih al-Hajj inspected a building that is under construction and another one that lies 100 meters away from Bahaeddine Hariri mosque.

The real clowns are the supporters of the bald murderer who apparently bent over to pick up flowers while the bullets flew over his head; then held a press conference an hour later with the bullets extracted from the walls in front of him meaning he tampered with evidence before an investigation.

If there was no bombs involved in the alleged incident, there was no assassination attempt.
Nassrallah is trying to gain back some of his popularity by taking advantage of the anti-Islam movie and inciting street actions. Aoun is doing the same by taking advantage of a bullet or two (if true) shot at one of the cars in his convoy.
Propaganda at its best.

and here we are again another assasination attempt . Really in my opinion somebody else is trying to assisinate both M8 and M14 leaders. They know that such actions could lead to a heavy conflict. Why do these assasination attempts only attack christian leaders , this makes me suscpicious .

i am against M8 ... but i am not necessarily with M14. Neither gives the LEBANESE people an actual choice in election. The article is vague, but it definitely states the FMP denied access to the car that was shot at. Why ? Why ? Why ? im not cherry picking at anything.

No one should be assassinated. No one deserves to be killed indiscriminately. Especially Michel Aoun. It is wrong and unChristian to attribute the acts and ommissions of an imbecile to the imbecile. He really does not know what he is doing so to kill him for this is cruel.
The shot was fired, if it was a shot, into an empty vehicle that was the decoy vehicle. This makes for an attempted assassination.
However, it is funny now to read the posts of the Aounists now and to have read their posts several months ago when Geagea was almost assassinated at Mirrab.

Thanks God he was nor killed. This person should not be killed because he will disgrace martyrdom. Aoun has everything except integrity. So please let us all defend our martyrs who died for a cause by not letting someone like Aoun to join them.

pics show a bullet hole in a car--nothing more. No other info suggesting which car, where the bullet was fire or any other information.
For the record, I am unsure what has happened. If FPM is not allowing officials to examine the car, then there will be a lot of questions which won't be answered any time soon.

im still suspicious of this whole thing. this picture is hilarious. they could be of any car. would they really post pictures of a car being investigated so quickly ?? if this was an assassination attempt ... it was done by a super amateur, klashinkov ? for an assassination ? not very professional :)
