HA and Amal are opening up their regions to the army to put security there. THe question is WHY?
1- is it a political manoeuver for 2013 elections?
2- DId they become more mature, more stabilityloving and less thug loving?
3- They are overwhelmed and they dont want to pay salaries of their milicias to do the job of the army?
In each case. Why are they against removing palestinian arms?
The answer to these questions are in the Mediterranean. The oil and gas find will free Lebanese politicians from their foreign sponsors. At least, it makes them less dependent on foreign money. Some have have promises that they can't walk away from like keeping Israel in check while Iran develops its nuclear program. This is one reason that HA changes its message from resistance to liberation to who knows what. The contracts will be sold early next year. This is why there seems to be consensus on bolstering security and distancing Lebanon from regional tensions. Oil and gas won't cure all Lebanon's problems right away. The exploration contracts will generate billions of dollars so accusations of corruption will fly on both sides.
