Prime Minister Najib Miqati held talks with New York City with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem, reported al-Liwaa newspaper on Wednesday.

A diplomatic source told the newspaper that the Syrian official lamented to the premier the Lebanese government's failure to provide the Syrian regime with support during its crisis.

The Lebanese government did not perform the role that was expected of it, Muallem reportedly told Miqati on the margins of their participation of the United Nations General Assembly last week.

For his part, the prime minister defended the Lebanese government's decision to distance itself from the Syrian crisis, reiterating the need to control the border between the two countries, said the source.

He added that the government will also continue on providing support to the Syrian refugees in Lebanon.

Muallem reportedly remained critical of Miqati's stance.

"The Lebanese government did not perform the role that was expected from it"

What is this, an employer-employee assessment interview? The PM is not going to get the raise that he expected? or worse, will he be "demoted" from his post due to poor performance?

This man named Walid Al Mou3alek does not represent anyone but himself and his slave master Bashar. As a Syrian, I am ashamed to have this tool as my foreign minister.

Actually, I see here that relations between Lebanon and Syria are becoming more like any other two normal states. Syria is trying to pressure Lebanon for support, and the latter responded that it is not in its best interest. Normal rapport between two governments, no big fuss.

This is one of the few things that the government has done a DECENT job on--it is good that these godless bloodthirsty cretins in Assad's government are disapproving.

How about we kick out that filth of an ambassador you have here and we will even throw in our FM who can then live his fantasy as a Syrian puppet--oh wait....

Muallem, it seems that you don't provide enough cash anymore to your employees... they even had to raise their salaries to make up for the gap!

I Guess it's the Difference of Heights in between the two men that caused a bit of a confusion in NY. The FAT SHORT Scum bag is not getting it right. By The Time his words would reach up to Mikati's hearing, many circumstances would have changed.

"The Lebanese government did not perform the role that was expected of it".....All three people at the top pulled back from the sinking ship. Times are changing ya Muallem. You only have two donkwy left in Lebanon.....one yellow, and a smaller orange one.
