Geagea: Our Struggle Won't Stop before Formation of Sovereign, Patriotic Govt.
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةLebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea on Sunday called for the formation of a “sovereign, truly patriotic government,” stressing that the “struggle” of the March 14 forces will not stop before the departure of Prime Minister Najib Miqati's government.
“Today, we laid to rest martyr Wissam al-Hasan and all the martyrs but we reject to even think of bidding farewell to another figure once again,” Geagea said in a televised address.
“The current government is directly or indirectly responsible for the assassination operations in Lebanon because it created the environment for assassinations,” Geagea charged.
“How many battles were fought to prevent the handing over of telecom data (to security agencies) and the assassination would not have happened without a cover from a certain state authority,” he added.
The LF leader noted that the “first step” towards a solution to the country's political and security problems should be “the departure of this government, although it comprises some friends and some members who have good will.”
“We count on the patriotic sense of some of them and we call on them to resign,” Geagea added.
“Between 2005 and 2010, we tried the approach of national unity governments and we all lived and suffered the disastrous outcome, which included paralysis, hegemony and the invasion of Beirut and some areas,” he said.
“After that we tried the government formed by the March 8 camp and centrists and the result was the assassination of Wissam al-Hasan after two assassination attempts in Maarab and Badaro, security chaos and a scary deterioration at all levels,” Geagea added.
Thousands of mourners participated earlier on Sunday in the funeral of slain Major General Wissam al-Hasan, chief of the Internal Security Forces Intelligence Bureau, who was killed by a powerful car bombing on Friday blamed on the Damascus regime.
Hasan was killed on Friday in a powerful car bombing in the Ashrafiyeh district in Beirut.
Conflicting reports emerged over the number of dead in the blast with some sides putting the figure at three and others at eight.
At least a hundred people were wounded in the explosion.

And now where will Dr. Collaborator find an occupier with whom to collaborate against balado and ebn balado, an act that brought us to the sh..t we find ourselves in now? But now the coward wants to reinvent himself as a warrior. Go play bel arb3a. zo3ran ma kharjkon afdal men heik
Most of our leaders have committed hideous crimes in the past - that is an irrefutable fact. From Birri/Amal to Nasrallah/Hizballah to Aoun(civil war w 'tahrir' and...) to Geagea.... Geagea spent years in prison under ground @ the Lebanese (nomenclature nothing more) DOD fortress. Birri was in power leading l majlis, no one knows where Nasrallah was :) and Aoun was holding hands with his wife down the streets of Paris.... Let's talk present though - who's the genocidal psychopath? I say the one that's 'intelligent' enough to take over Beirut in one day - yet somehow, assassination plots right under his nose elude him. Maybe he did not do it (I personally doubt that), but you want to tell me he did not know?
Slash & Phoenix, Your hatred against HA is based on pure hatred & spite
Geagea would be proud of you both. Not once have either of you given a valid reason for your hatred. You are speaking via old feelings based on which leader you followed & who has allied with them now.
Lets look at some facts..During the civil war HA never attacked or overrun a christian town, HA never fought alongside the PLO.
Yet Geagea extends his hand to the people who were doing exactly that.
Jumblat still has the church bells from many towns he overran. Yet we know its not who is wrong but who is your ally right at this moment.
Lets not kid around, all the posts are not about truths. But who your parents liked & you were brainwashed into loving these warlords more than you would your God.....
waynak wle accordionman?still alive?shtaknelak ya man.Although i never agreed with you but it is fun to have you around wle retard.
As for Rory,Habbet shou elet.
So u r blaming Geagea for extending his hand to some lebanese who you assume they fought alongside PLO against the Christians ????
Tab assuming you are right, what about your general Mr Rory?he is extending his neck for a regime who killed and still killing thousands of Christians,Walla maaleh,el General bimoune ?
I understand people who do do like the LF,they have their reasons which one has to respect ,but have no respect to anyone who defends or follow
Speedy Gonzales who forgot the thousands of slaughtered lebanese and threw himself in the arms of the same regime who slaughtered them and still doing to this moment .
firstly to Phoenix, You fought alongside the only man who had a dream & a true cause for all Lebanese. "Bachir Gemayel"(RIP)
secondly to greenie, The PLO abused our hospitality & were running roughshod over all Lebanese, They were the cause of our civil war.
when I mentioned they overran Christian villages, I was alerting 2 LF followers of who had caused more destruction & ruthlessness to their people. Yet Geagea decided lets extend our hand to them but never to a fellow christian. Why?
Sovereign AND patriotic? By whose definition? Fouad l'Israelien Saniora? Or Moueen al-Sunni Crazy Merehbi? Or Ahmad Chay Fatfat? Or Oqab Gun Trader Saqr? Or Dr. Ye7ekmo al-Ikhwan himself?
funny how people resort to the past to better ignore the present especially among M8 people...
