Mustaqbal to Boycott Dialogue: For Forming Govt. Comprising Members from outside March 8, 14

Al-Mustaqbal parliamentary bloc on Tuesday called for forming "a neutral salvation government comprising members from outside the March 14 and March 8 camps," while announcing that it will boycott any national dialogue session or parliamentary meetings that involve the participation of the government.

“This new government must shift the country from the state of tension to a state of calm, security and stability, which would represent the first step towards restoring balance and national partnership in Lebanon,” the bloc said.

"The terrorist bombing that targeted Maj. Gen. Wissam al-Hasan and his bodyguard Ahmed Suhyouni and led to the martyrdom of innocent citizens proves that the criminal hands that had targeted Lebanon's leaders, independence, freedom and sovereignty are continuing their criminals deeds, intentions and objectives,” said a statement issued by the bloc after its weekly meeting.

"These facts obligate the Lebanese people, the March 14 forces and the friends and allies in Lebanon to continue their struggle and remain vigilant in order to unveil the criminals, bring them to justice and foil their continuous criminal plots and conspiracies," the statement added.

The bloc noted that al-Hasan's assassination "is part of a clear political and security course," adding that the attack happened "after his numerous accomplishments, including the busting of more than 30 Israeli spy networks and his latest major achievement when he unveiled the conspiracy of the Syrian regime which tasked criminal Michel Samaha with transporting explosives to Lebanon.”

"The Syrian regime and its agents plotted the assassination of Maj. Gen. Al-Hasan after the Syrian regime's conspiracy against Lebanon was exposed audio-visually before the Arab and international public opinion,” the bloc added.

The crime “would not have been carried out so easily had it not been for the security gaps, starting from the Rafik Hariri International Airport, and had it not been for the help the criminals received on the ground, which was made possible by the zones that are beyond the authority of the state's security agencies,” the conferees said.

Slamming Prime Minister Najib Miqati's government, the bloc said "the presence of this government provided the political, media and security cover (for the crime) through its role in wittholding telecom data from the security agencies."

The bloc also charged that the accusations of some politicians and journalists against al-Hasan had paved the ground and created the suitable atmosphere for the assassination.

Meanwhile, the bloc's head, ex-PM Fouad Saniora, informed President Michel Suleiman that it will not take part in any upcoming national dialogue session before the current government steps down.

100% agree with a government of technocrats. Throw a Ziad Baroud in. Let the management be taken care of by professionals. Let them choose successful business and civil society leaders. We lebanese are excellent in the private sector.
Keep the politics out of the cabinet and in the parliament.

100% against their stupid boycott. They are not playing the democratic game.

Thumb geha 23 October 2012, 23:31

boycott is a democratic non violent way: a lot better than guns. this approach will at least stop them all from stealing from us.

Samiam don't waste your breath on that Farsi BSThrower...he is not even worth the yellow snow where the huskies go!

I agree with you and at least they are looking for a new clean option. 100% agree with a government of technocrats.

I agree with what Hakim said earlier that we don't even need to have a unity government or attend national dialogue. Let's not kid ourselves...no one can govern while armed Hizballa gangs and militias are around...Hizb must disarm first and then the winner of elections should form the government ALONE.

A government of Technocrats would be the best solution for Lebanon and make this solution permanent.

Later we send m14 and m8 to Doha and close the airport for a couple of years...

Thumb bigsami 23 October 2012, 23:21

Agreed! But could we make it a one-way ticket to nowhere and include all politicians on that flight?

Thumb geha 23 October 2012, 23:29

totally agree. I will be the first to close the airport and loose the keys.

Missing peace 23 October 2012, 22:53

yeah dialogue with M8? lol it s only you can talk about anything except the most important one!

Thumb geha 23 October 2012, 23:32

Peace: dialogue is useless. we need to kick them all out.

Thumb lebanon_first 24 October 2012, 08:52

100% zadig. They will self destruct. It is the law of karma

Thumb geha 24 October 2012, 08:53

maybe I was not clear enough: we need to kick them out peacefully.
crippling the parliament is a good first step, other steps can be taken and they will soon.
once they reach the point where they can do nothing, they will start getting at each other's throats as they already did.

Enno in principle it is a good thought. But how are those poor neutral people going to govern a country where kéll wahad fétéh 3a hsébo? Our main problem is an extremely weak state that is riddled with foreign agents and further weakened by armed militias. I am convinced that the latest assassination was done with the key help of someone from the inside.
There is no substitute to sitting together and trying to hammer out a broad agreement that would lead to the disarming of all extra-governmental organisations. We don't have to agree on what kind of a country Lebanon should be, i.e. westward-leaning, "axis-of-resistance"-leaning,or (alla yestor) wahabi-leaning. This stuff can be decided at the ballot box and we would need to respect the outcome. But it is essential that we agree that the state has the exclusive authority to use force, and that we implement the agreement.

M14 should just say what is know. Hassan came through the Hizbcocaine run airport. That info was fed to the Hezz and Syrian murderers and he was killed in 24 hours.

The Hezz are the key to the killing machine. M14 is right to want them out. They have been murdering for decades their political opponents.

Thumb makhaleh 24 October 2012, 01:11

we should start a lebanese spring a peaceful one no guns no knifes just us no fighting just to get our country back cuz we keep letting other countries control us....time for a change

To all March 8 & 14 backers..
Who do you think you are fooling with these titles?
One has allegiance to Iran the other to Saudi Arabia, and none of which really intends to have a sovereign Lebanon..
Your leaders knew exactly the game when agreed to participate and receive payment for their respective services which they proudly deliver on a daily basis to Syria, Iran or Saudi Arabia.
Don't be naive; these same leaders and their forefathers have caused great grief to Lebanon, while their families vacationed in Paris and South America
So please cut your drama and take advise: if you are really patriotic and place the National well-being ahead of yours, then you have to reject the strategy of your masters. Otherwise, there is no point arguing at a newspaper site and waste time. game over..
