A number of leading March 14 camp officials met at Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea's Maarab residence on Saturday in order to address the local and regional situation, revealed the daily An Nahar on Monday.

It said that the leaders tackled in depth the latest developments, especially in light of the assassination of Internal Security Forces Intelligence Bureau chief Brigadier General Wissam al-Hasan, and reached an agreement on the main measures that need to be taken during the next phase in Lebanon.

The meeting was attended by Phalange Party leader Amin Gemayel, Mustaqbal bloc leader MP Fouad Saniora, MPs Georges Adwan, Sami Gemayel, and Ahmed Fatfat, and former Premier Saad Hariri's advisor Mohammed Chatah.

Sources close to the March 14 camp told the daily that the attendees agreed “against taking a lenient approach with the killing machine that has been active in Lebanon since 2004.”

They also agreed against being lenient with those offering cover to the killing machine, added the sources.

“The opposition will impose a new approach in dealing with the government and its members,” they added.

“The March 14 officials agreed to tackle the core of the problem,” stressed the sources.

They reiterated their recent agreement to boycott any meeting attended by the government, including the national dialogue and parliament sessions, until it resigns.

The March 14-led opposition and Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat accused Syria of being behind the assassination of Hasan in a massive car bomb in Beirut's Ashrafiyeh district on October 19.

The opposition has since been demanding that the government, comprised of mainly pro-Syrian forces, to resign, saying that it is covering up for the crime.

The March 14 officials at the Maarab meeting stressed the need for the formation of a new neutral government “in order to save Lebanon from crime and instability,” reported An Nahar.

The outcome of Saturday's meeting will be revealed starting this week, said the sources.

do as we tell you not as we do! is the slogan of M8...
criticizing the others of trying to topple the gvt while they ve blocked the parliament for months and hezb forced jumblatt to join M8 with the same idea concerning the previous one !
M8 talks a lot too but do very little to improve the country or reform as their orangina shouts!

laughable people M8 are, like real kindergarten children...

M8 don't care if Lebanon is a truly independent state from ALL foreign influences...all M8 cares about is staying in power and keeping the illegal weapons pointed at the free independent Lebanese to protect Assad and Iran at the expense of our country...shame on you M8 traitors...Let's us all have weapons (not light weapons but heavy and rockets) or no one should except our military...we need equal playing fields so Hizb and M8 cronies will think twice before burning our country…

yes allouchi taht is the M logic: as they accept one political party to be more armed than the army itself, in the sake of justice( a word they keep praising!!!!) they have to accept that all the parties can be more armed than the army!
as syria is also an enemy as israel is, then we need a side that "resist" them! as hezbos resist israel but not syria, so it would be balanced each side protecting a border! lol!

March 14, what's this nonsense with the supposedly "neutral government" that would put an end to assassinations? Neutral government my left foot! Only one type of government is capable of stopping all assassinations and uniting all the Lebanese except the Wilayat al-Faqihers, and it's a March 14 government! If you haven't learned from ancient history (unfortunately due to collective amnesia), haven't you learned from recent history? I mean when Fouad Saniora and Saad al-Haribi Telteyn al-Marajil, both smack in the middle of March 14 the last time I checked, were in charge and blessed by the presence among them of Comte Marwan de Hamadeh, the brightest strategist the world has ever known? So, compatriots, my March 14, my only hope, go to your leaders NOW and demand that they stop the silly joke of a neutral government that fools the lovers of life and brotherhood and all the good things that I long for, just like you. God bless the 7akim. ma7rous inshalla!

good idea, but I would also add to make it illegal for any political party to be armed or get ANY foreign support.

Actually please don't assume that I won’t accept general Aoun or Whomever a fair election will produce. Please see my previous posts. which I have always state the winner forms the government. I would like to say that in a democracy you don't have to support the elected otherwise we won't have opposition parties, but I promise you that I will support him against attacks from a any foreign country (like when the Syrian attacked our PM and no M8 supported him).
