The number of Syrian refugees in Lebanon has surged into more than 106,280, receiving aid through the efforts exerted by the Lebanese state and its U.N. and non-governmental organization partners, a weekly report issued by the United Nations High Commissioner for refugees said on Saturday.

“Nearly 77,000 are currently registered at the UNHCR in addition to 30,000 refugees who are waiting to be registered,” the statement said.

According to the UNHCR report, there are 41,648 Syrians registered in Northern Lebanon, 32,217 in the Bekaa and 3,149 in Beirut.

The statement pointed out to the difficulties encountering the Syrians, who are fleeing into Lebanon.

“Several refugees are crossing into Lebanon through illegal border crossings after Lebanon's eastern border of al-Qaa was closed,” the report noted.

None of the fleeing Syrians in Lebanon live in camps but are all instead living within local communities.

The U.N. Agency expects the current tally of Syrian refugees in Lebanon to leap to 120,000 by the end of 2012.

The bloodshed in neighboring country, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, has so far killed more than 36,000 people since mid-March 2011.

Kick that ninjah out of Lebanon, send her to Saudi Arabia where her Sheikh was from. No room in Lebanon for niqabi ladies. If you want to be in Lebanon, at least respect the culture and show your face. This is not Saudi Arabia.

it's not up to you to decide who gets to stay and who doesn't, these are refugees and their rights must be respected and guess what there ARE niqabi Lebanese, live with it, even it offends you...

The Niqabis are not loyal to their country. They can't be. They are loyal only to their Sheikhs and the Wahabi Ummah. There refugees carry a huge security risk for Lebanon, especially the ones who do not show their face. Sorry i f that offends you, but if I were in charge I'd blow a buffer zone on the Syria side and never allow these people in if that's who they really are. I feel bad for Syrian refugees , but I am afraid the more and more I see of them, the more I realize they are not normal refugees but Islamic conservatives.

Name a crime that a niqabi from Syria has committed to make you deem them a "security" risk...your statement is utter nonesense, should we also ban the sale of winter scarves out of the same reason? What if the niqabi is Lebanese who are you to tell her how to dress? go focus on yourself and stop worrying about how people dress.

Yucky Niqabi. 22-years old and she's got 5 kids. Why isn't Saudi Arabia taking these refugees? Surely they care about their Islamic sisters and can do more for them then Christian Lebanon?

those niqabi women have the RIGHT to cover whatever they want of their bodies or properties, including their faces. It won't effect you if they cover their faecs. They are being loyal to their God, Allah, not to their Shaiks or Whatever. And yes Saudi will be proud to welcome all refugees Muslim or Christian DOESNT MATTER, they are all given free schooling there at least!!!
