General Prosecution Charges Suspect in Case of Illegally Imported Medications

One person has been charged in the case of the illegally imported medications, reported An Nahar daily on Sunday.
Sources monitoring the issue told the daily that investigations will now be held with the suspect, stressing that the issue cannot be resolved “with the press of a button.”
They revealed that the forgery of the medications was discovered at the labs at the Beirut Arab University and discussions were held to determine whether it or the state has the authority to press charges in the case.
After a week-long assessment, it was determined that the state should handle the issue, added the sources.
On Saturday, Health Minister Ali Hasan Khalil stressed the role of the ministry in uncovering the scandal, vowing to go ahead with the case to the very end.
No one will be protected in this issue, he declared during a health conference at Saint Joseph University.
“We will not cover for anyone when it comes to the people's health,” he stressed.
The forgery scandal had been lingering for some ten months in Lebanon and Khalil said the issue had been referred to the judiciary about a month ago when it was discovered.
General Prosecutor Judge Hatem Madi denied however receiving anything in that regard.
Head of Parliament’s Public Health, Labor and Social Affairs committee MP Atef Majdalani said Thursday that more than 100 medications had been illegally imported into Lebanon.

the arrested should be the owners and managers of those four companies, which means at least a dozen people not one!

fpm justice minister delayed the whole matter and would it not for the media knowing about this, no one would have even followed up on it.

Once a filth always a filth. Now they will tell you the usual crap like "M14 has blocked this law at the parliament, and we had to start manufacturing the fake medicines to supply the market". The concerned should get life, or even death penalty by spreading poison on the market.

hassan nasrallah will say those are ashraf el nas, el nas will say those are criminals who need to be punished, that goes for all the politicians who are protecting them.
On another note, i think it was a strange coincidence that an AMAL minister was involved, this might be a ploy by Berri to get rid of hizbullah (or at least delegitimize them), and regain his power on the Shiites
