Eighteen-year-old Youssef Ali Bazzal was freed on Wednesday in Syria after his family paid a sum of money to win his release, media reports said.

According to the National News Agency, Bazzal's family paid the kidnappers around $60,000 in ransom in exchange for his release.

Bazzal was kidnapped four days ago in the north of the eastern Bekaa valley.

The family received after Bazzal's abduction several phone calls from a Syrian phone number demanding a ransom.

Voice of Lebanon radio (100.5) reported that Bazzal is on his way back to Lebanon.

Bazzal's father is the owner of a local poultry slaughterhouse in the Bekaa.
