Al-Rahi Presides over First Mass as Cardinal: Apostolic Exhortation Unites Mideast's Peoples

Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi on Monday noted that his motto “partnership and love” is inspired by the Apostolic Exhortation which he described as the “path to unity” in Lebanon and conflict-hit Middle Eastern countries.

“This Apostolic Exhortation shows us the path to unity among all people in Lebanon and in the Middle Eastern countries that are suffering the pain of conflicts and animosity,” said al-Rahi in a sermon he delivered in the Vatican during the first mass he presides over since he was promoted to cardinal by Pope Benedict XVI.

“Peace in the region will not be real unless it is based on genuine respect for the other,” the patriarch added.

Al-Rahi joined on Saturday the elite club of churchmen who will elect the next pope in a ceremony held by Pope Benedict XVI at St. Peter's Basilica.

Around 500 officials and politicians led by President Michel Suleiman were among 1,500 Lebanese attending Saturday's ceremony.

He can begin by trying to unite the Lebanese which is the opposite of what he did before his trip to the holy siege. Good luck cardinal.

With all due respect. And I would never talk smack about any religious person that does not claim he is God or given and legitamcy by God himself, but really couldn't they choose a better pic?

Should add DEVELOPMENT THROUGH RESPECT.
The region is going backward as religion taking over destiny of the citizens.
Leave religion and self respect.
Preach education and future development .
This way you eliminate the cronies and corruption.

A Warning Against Hypocrisy
by Matthew:
"...23 Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: 2 “The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. 3 So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. 4 They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.

5 “Everything they do is done for people to see: They make their phylacteries[a] wide and the tassels on their garments long; 6 they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues; 7 they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called ‘Rabbi’ by others.

8 “But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers. 9 And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. ...."

This man is so full of himself. His Red garb and uniform has cost thousands of dollars being made from the finest materials!
The church is straying from its true mission and it is up to us to stop glorifying those of its leaders who talk the talk but do not walk the walk.
