Cabinet to Discuss New Wage Scale on December 10
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةThe Lebanese cabinet announced on Wednesday that it will resume discussions on the new wage scale on December 10.
This decision was announced during the cabinet's meeting in Baabda palace.
The Syndicate Coordination Committee protested on Tuesday and Wednesday “the delay in submitting the new wage scale for a vote at the parliament”, staging a strike that was adopted by most syndicates.
In September, the cabinet approved the new salaries scale for public employees but has not submitted it for a vote at the parliament yet, prompting the SCC to hold several sit-ins and nationwide strikes.
Prior to the cabinet's meeting, President Michel Suleiman and Prime Minister Najib Miqati held talks during which they discussed the latest developments in the country, among them postponing the national dialogue session that was supposed to take place on Thursday.
January 7 was announced as the date for the upcoming national meeting.
The March 14 coalition had announced following the assassination of General Wissam al-Hasan that it will be boycotting the dialogue sessions and the government's work, calling on PM Miqati to resign.
