Jumblat: Palestinian State Will Be Established Away from Empty Slogans of Defiance
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةProgressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat hailed on Monday the international community's “unprecedented historic step” in recognizing the state of Palestine.
He said in his weekly editorial in the PSP-affiliated al-Anbaa magazine: “The decision should help the Palestinians continue their struggle to establish their independent state away from the empty slogans of defiance issued by regimes that have spoken of liberating the whole of Palestine without lifting a finger to so for decades.”
“These regimes have encouraged wars in other people's countries while disregarding the legitimate rights of their own people,” noted the MP.
“The U.N. vote has eliminated Zionist theories that have long denied the existence of the Palestinian people and has instead proven their existence and recognized their national rights,” he continued.
“The historic vote embodies the dream of late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat … and demonstrates the futility of all of the Israeli wars and military adventures,” remarked Jumblat.
“It has proven that there can be no escaping the two-state solution,” he stressed.
“It is time for the Palestinian people to escape the clutches of the Zionist terror machine and some terrorist organizations that have become affiliated with regimes of defiance,” stated the PSP leader.
The U.N. General Assembly on Thursday voted overwhelmingly to recognize Palestine as a non-member state, giving a major diplomatic triumph to President Mahmoud Abbas despite fierce opposition from the United States and Israel.
The 193-member assembly voted 138-9 with 41 abstentions for the resolution which enables the Palestinians to join U.N. agencies and sign international treaties.
Let the Palastinians in Lebanon move home to their new state. We have enough problem from the enemy within.
phillipo, do us a favour and stop posting on behalf of israel on this site and stop interfering in every article.
Besides phillipo, we all know that its israel that would never allow it. They are trying to ethnicly cleanse the westbank like they did with most of Palestine in 1948 and put settlers there instead. They would never allow for more palestinians to move in and thus become the majority of the land like they were naturally in 1948 before the zionist white european new immigrant terrororists and their militias massacred and expelled as many as they could.
Most Palestinians in Lebanon were expelled from Haifa and the Galilee and not from the West bank.
Go Walid Beik go ,hey chrisrushlau this has nothing to do with Christians or Muslims .
Lebanona - here's another one. As soon as ones thoughts do not agree with yours then they are pro-Israeli, pro-Zionist, pro-whatever.
"Palestinians in Lebanon were expelled from their homes in Haifa and the Galilee. Evicting them again to the West Bank will not solve the problem."
Please read the history books and radio recordings then see that it was the Arab leadership in northern Israel which pleased with the population to quit their homes so that the invading Arab armies could sweep the Jews into the sea, and then return to their homes within a few weeks.
Many thousands "refused" that "advice" and still live in Israel have a much higher standard of living than in all the surrounding Arab States. If you don't believe me ask anyone living in Nazareth, Shefaram, Haifa, Acre, or all the other towns in the area. Ask the Arab members of Israel's parliament, the Arab head of the Western Galilee Regional Hospital, or all the Arab lawyers and doctors, professors etc.
Phillipo - please stop repeating garbage that has long been discounted and proven false and no longer accepted even by israeli historians. There has been counteless studies (many by israeli historian) showing that israel ethnically cleansed the palestinians. The debate between scholars is what percentage of it was due to premeditated expulsion and what percentage is due to course of war. Either way refugees have the right to return to their homes. The mythology of arab broadcasts telling palestinians to leave have long been relegated to thr dustbin of history and is only used by radical zionists who care little about history or human rights. The transfer of Palestinians have deep roots in zionist ideoloigy. Indeed, even before the creation of the state of israel, they created a committee dedicated to coming up with ways to "transfer" the Palestians out. It was called aptly the transfer committee.
Now to the lucky Israeli Arabs. Please read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Present_absentee.
A present absentee is a Palestinian who fled or was expelled from his home in Palestine by Jewish or Israeli forces, before and during the 1948 Arab-Israeli war, but who remained within the area that became the state of Israel. Present absentees are also referred to as internally displaced Palestinians (IDPs). The term applies to the present absentee's descendants too. In 1950 these were 46,000 of the 156,000 Palestinians in Israel.
Present absentees are not permitted to live in the homes they were expelled from, even if they live in the same area, the property still exists, and they can show that they own it. They are regarded as absent by the Israeli government because they left their homes, even if they did not intend to leave them for more than a few days, and even if they did so involuntarily.

To Rafehh and other palestinian lovers: Why did the palestinians kill so many Lebanese Christians? Chiites even admitted that palestinians had committed horrible acts to them as well! So, do not deviate from the main point that was made: palestinians have a state now, so LEAVE LEBANON NOW...Wasn't ain el helwe recent incident enough for you? The 1st gangs who dared bear arms against Lebanese army, in Lebanon, was your palestinians, from 1971, 1973, 1975, on...
You have only one point right, the rest is propaganda.
Yes, when someone disagrees with you they call you far too easily a Zionist. Even between Lebanese.
As of the rest, many people were evicted from the homes in Palestine with use of force. I even recall seeing this happen again just a few years ago in Jerusalem with the benediction of the Israeli authorities. This was shown in CNN...
Still, when there are wars, people tend to seek shelter sometimes in different cities. It happened to my family during the Lebanese war, whether it was during the Israeli invasion or because of the civil war. By the end the displaced returned to their homes after months or years of absence. Keep in mind that back in 1948, there were no borders between Palestine and its neighboring countries... moving around was easy.
phillipo it sounds like paradise. I bet all those Israeli Arabs just can't wait to line up and sign their loyalty oaths.
Lebanona - with all due respects who are you to tell anyone whether they can write on a site or not, and "interfering" I thought that that is what the sites are for, that people write on them.
The Naharnet site was set up in English so that people like me around the world can bring forward their own views. However you seem to be another one who if their thoughts do not match yours then they must be Israelis or at least Zionists. Sorry, but there are millions of us around the world who are free thinkers.
