Patriarch Ignatius IV Hazim of Antioch and all the East is in a stable condition and currently undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit after suffering a stroke, Saint George Hospital announced on Tuesday.

"A team of medical experts at Saint George are taking care of the Patriarch's condition ,” the hospital's administration said, adding that the Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea, Beirut Greek Orthodox Archbishop Elias Audeh, as well as Public Health Minister Ali Hasan Khalil and al-Mustaqbal MP Atef Majdalani visited the hospital to check up on Hazim's health.

Also among the visitors were former ministers Michel Eddeh, Ibrahim Najjar, Elie Salem and Beshara Merhej.

Hazim was admitted to the Saint George Hospital Tuesday morning after suffering a stroke that is affecting “his movement ability and consciousness”.

The Greek Orthodox patriarch was hospitalized on November 5 for what Saint George's administration had said were routine medical checkups.

“He is in good health,” it said in a terse statement last month after the media reported that he was transferred from Damascus to the hospital in Beirut's Ashrafiyeh district for falling ill.

Reports coming out of Beirut are conflicting regarding
the patriarchs condition. Rumors that he is brain dead have circulated
other rumors are that he has died but due to the sensitivity of the matter the church officials
are calling bishops and priests all over the international world to share that in fact he has died but they are waiting for an official announcement

Peter Bosco: "his wikipedia page said he died today."

His Wikipedia page as of thirty seconds ago says nothing of the sort.
