An Internal Security Forces unit arrived swiftly at the scene to search the Mercedes.
However, LBCI reported later that the car didn't contain any suspicious substances and was no threat.
The NNA said that the car was moved to the army intelligence headquarters in northern city of Tripoli and investigations with its owner is underway.
MP Ali is the father of the Arab Democratic Party leader Refaat Eid, who is from the Alawite sect of Syrian President Bashar Assad.
The Sunni-majority coastal city of Tripoli has in the past few years been the scene of intense clashes between Sunni supporters of Syrian rebels and Alawite Muslims loyal to the Hizbullah-led alliance backed by Iran and Syria.
We all live in a constant climate of paranoia. The MPs fear assassinations, we fear a large scale occupation of Lebanon by the Farsi terrorist group whom don't hesitate to turn their alleged antiisraeli weapons on us.
